Still unclear as to the difference, assumed it was a contractual thing to save the club money.

Head Coach - less say on non-coaching matters like transfers, contract renewals, and maybe things like player recovery compared to a Manager.

Ancelotti nearly always managed like a Head Coach. Rarely seemed to make demands on a club for transfers and such.

why do people believe that guy btw?

Was just thinking this. Liverpool seem to have more ITK wannabes than most and none of them have mentioned this story.

Big step up for Iraola, see if he has the gravitas to manage Liverpool.

Guess you could say the same of Carrick at Man Utd.

He'll do brilliantly I reckon. Hopefully the Liverpool board will want someone else, maybe with local connections like Gerrard. Or Ian Rush.

Iraola will do superb there so it’s a big no from me

It's an unknown quantity.

Managing Liverpool, and everything that comes with it, is an incredible step up from Bournemouth.

Not saying he won't do well but, and it makes me sick in my mouth to admit it, but it's an elite job that needs an elite manager to suceed. Big call to say that Iraola is an elite manager at this stage of his career.

He will suck balls there. As much as I hate to admit it Liverpool need a personality to carry them. They are worse than us for wanting 'legends' in charge....I think if Gerrard said he wanted to manage, most of them would welcome it. Alonso would have been perfect for them, but he'll be getting his pay off from Chelsea in a few months anyway

God, I hope they get the next appointment wrong. It better not be Iraola.

I would be gutted if they got Iraola - hopefully Slot will stay at least for another season.

The BBC says he's going to work as a 'Global Ambassador' for the City football group.

What is the guessing that is a 1 year contract and is essentially to stop him going to work for a direct rival during what will no doubt be a transitional period for City. Their planning and strategy at the board level really is a cut above everyone else.

Whatever people think of the finances around City, there’s no denying Pep Guardiola completely changed modern football.

Positional play, building from the back, inverted full backs, total control through possession… half the football world has spent the last decade trying to copy him.

The Premier League is losing, by an absolute distance, its biggest, best and most high-profile manager.

Good riddance.

442, launch it to the big lad up front, stick it in the mixer, toe punt a half volley into the onion bag.

That's football.

Done a superb job up there, Motherwell would have gained a lot more praise if Hearts hadn't had the season they had. Reckon he'll be in a fairly big club in the next few years.

He's definitely made football more boring IMO. The playing out from the back possession football, resulting in pass after pass between midfield and defence.

As good as his City sides have been, and they've obviously been incredible, they've been dull as fuck to watch for a while now.

That’s one way of looking at it.

Another is how fascinating it’s been watching Manchester City completely suffocate and grind teams into dust through control and positioning.

At their peak it often felt less like a football match and more like watching a machine slowly crush the opposition.

They are replacing him with a guy who has won the champo and a pre season knock about. I'm not sure the planning is that good tbh.
