He’s only gonna get one chance at managing Barcelona. He can afford to come back elsewhere in Europe, fail a bit but get experience, and then walk into the job when he’s better prepared. If I was him I’d be looking at a small club in a big league outside of Spain and plan for Barcelona within 4-5 years.

Agreed. He’d be taking a big risk going to them now. Good thing is that there’d presumably be a ton of goodwill and hopefully a long leash from the supporters, being the legend that he is.

it's an odd time for him to choose to go into it, the current problems would test the very best managers let alone a relative novice. But I suppose with the exception of Guardiola himself no one else is likely to get more patience and time from the supporters unless he makes a complete balls of it and is threatening to relegate them

And he’s won the *checks notes* Qatar Stars League, Qatari Super Cup, Emir of Qatar Cup, Qatari Stars Cup, and Qatar Cup (twice), so he’s not got much more to do there.

Yes those are all real and separate competitions.

And the Qatari lottery.

Love how he's wearing shorts in a country where you usually need to be covering your knees.

Wonder if they'd go back in for Fonseca

If he has any pride at all, he’d knock them straight back- he said everything was agreed and they basically told him to do one so they could employ Nuno instead.

I love the absolute conviction that Fonesca would be a better appointment than Martinez, despite very little evidence to suggest so.

Is it because Fonseca or Favre haven't been in this league therefore represent a hope that they will be mint?

Newcastle fan suggesting Bruce as a replacement for Nuno, citing all the reasons that were given for why he should stay with us, was branded as 'sarcastic' on talksport.

*amidst a stream of Nuno out, time's up, got to go comments without any suggestion its unreasonable.

10games.

Do not get the Fonseca love, which does seem to be based on the fact he spoke well in a YouTube video and half the posters on here fancy him

Saying that I think Martinez would be a fucking disaster.

One report has mentioned tax. Every other one is because the new DoF didn’t want him, and preferred Nuno.

10 games is just a ridiculously short time to give a manager especially when he has won 5 of the 10 matches! The reaction to him by Spurs fans yesterday was more vitriolic than anything we ever did to Bruce but I dont see any uproar, so damn annoying how we are portrayed as deluded and ungrateful

I think you're right, would be interesting to see his reaction if they do offer him the job again.

I try never to tell a club how they should feel about their manager. There's so many variables to what success looks like. From the outside its easy to say it looks like he's doing OK but the reality can often be different.

No club should hire a manager which the fans aren't fussed about. It's the same reason why Rafa will never win over Everton.
