If NUFC don't sign quite a few decent players in the Summer there is a good chance we'll be relegated again. Cisse will be our only contracted out and out striker. Gosling and Shola will be leaving (Shola will not be getting a new contract). NUFC will also be trying to move on most of the players we have out on loan as they won't want most of them back (e.g. Gutierrez, Amalfitano, Ferguson and Vuckic). Mike Ashley won't want another relegation. It would be cheaper for him to spend £70m on players and wages for a year than what relegation would cost him. Obviously he won't spend £70m but he absolutely has to spend a decent amount to protect our Premiership status (which seems to be the only thing he's bothered about when it comes to NUFC).
