All the usual waffle which essentially amounts to "we won't put our hand in our pockets"

Goalscorers are by far the game's most valuable commodity, and as such it's virtually impossible to apply our ridiculously limiting transfer policy to them. We dropped very lucky with Ba and then Remy.

“And with all due respect to those guys I don’t think they are good enough for us.”

Aye, positively dripping with respect there Alan. Fucking cockend.

Hope they score hatricks against us, then headbutt Pardew into oblivion.

To be fair regarding Rhodes, I'd hate to see us take a gamble on a British lad who's just turned 24 and has a record like this:

Can never be too sure.

I've seen him a few times at Huddersfield and he was class but never knew his record was so good for Blackburn.  :kasper:

Spot on. Plus as our ambition is squarely focused on finishing bang on mid table why bother investing and take a chance. If we're struggling badly come December they'll look into "options" come January. No ambition = no desire to spend unless relegation becomes a real threat.

And people wonder why fans of other clubs hate us so much.

You will no doubt think im daft saying this but this is what pisses me off most with him. I can almost get over the fact we have to deal with the prick day in day out, with his cringe worthy shite, his ego, his lifting patter, but when he goes around insulting and belittling others under our banner; that's what makes me want to rip the skin off the slimy fuckwits face.

It's almost like its our problem, contain it like a spoilt brat of a child, but when you let him play with others and he goes off upsetting the world thats when the real shame kicks in.

Total and utter cretin. I nominate him to take the boiling hot water challenge.

Cunt.

Well yeah, but did he win 2005 Ipswich Town Player of the Year?

Rhodes is one of those players that would most likely make the step up to the PL. Young, home-grown, clinical finisher who's good with both feet and head, and has retained his goalscoring ability progressing up the divisions. Not good for us? We'd snap their hands off if the fee was £6m instead of £12m. As usual, we are stingy with money and to top it off, make unnecessary snide remarks.

http://www.espnfc.com/blog/espn-fc-united-blog/68/post/1996459/everton-manager-roberto-martinez-on-the-premier-leagueeuropa-league-and-the-secrets-to-his-success

Brilliant interview with Roberto Martinez in which he says:

"We want to be challenged. We want to be pushed to the maximum. We don't want people happy just to see the team drawing away from home. If you don't get positive results, you're going to get that sort of reaction, but we welcome that, we want to strive for the best, we know we're in the best league in world football, so we welcome that expectation."

"We gave 10 months of hard work, it would be stupid for us not to embrace Europe. Of course there will be months where we are going to be coping with seven or eight games in periods of three to four weeks, but that's what we want as a club. We need to be able to cope with that. We can't say that we don't want the Europa League. Europe is where we should be, that's where we should be representing our football club. We're going to really enjoy that."

"I always had to fight that old motto, that you could not be successful in the lower leagues playing good football. It wasn't straight-forward. The fans even booed the team off a couple of times when everything was pedestrian and we were still learning to play a different way. But I always thought that major changes needed major transitional periods, and I always said that I would rather die on my feet than live on my knees."

Meanwhile, our manager says:

“When you look at the teams now and the money that’s being spent, you have to be honest and say it’s going to be difficult replicating that fifth-place finish. But our ambition must be to try to do that."

"But I think the task of finishing in the top five is more difficult for us because of the growth of some of the other clubs who were just below us. In particular, Liverpool and Spurs have spent a lot of money, and other clubs such as Swansea and Southampton have coordinated their financial strength really well. You look at a club like Southampton, and they’re in a much stronger financial position than us in terms of purchasing players. Even though my team might be slightly stronger on paper once we replace Demba – team and squad – it’ll be even more difficult to get fifth.

i should tire of reading these kinds of things over and over but i never do, what an utter coward we have for a manager :anguish:

Win us a cup and he'd go in the history books.  First manager to win a trophy* for 46 years?  Like it or not he'd be put up there with the best.

*a trophy that wouldn't make Scott Parker look like someone's just shat in his kettle

I couldn't condone a cup win under Pardew. He'd be even more offensive than he is now, plus he'd take his place in club history. A nauseating thought.
