Premature thread title change? Positivity on this thread is a little worrying. Can we just go back to calling dear old Pards nasty names please?

Spreading.

Newcastle United have reportedly earmarked Saint-Etienne coach Christophe Galtier as their next manager.

Magpies boss Alan Pardew's future has come under increased scrutiny in recent months after they suffered six straight defeats prior to last week's 3-0 win against Cardiff.

Back in March, Pardew was banned for seven games after headbutting Hull City's David Meyler during a game at St James' Park.

L'Equipe have claimed that the Toon are looking to extend their French contingent to the management team after sounding out Saint-Etienne boss Galtier.

Galtier has led Les Verts to the brink of Champions League football this season, although they need maximum points from their final two games to have a chance of overthrowing Lille in third place in Ligue 1.

However, the Frenchman recently hinted that his future may be elsewhere once the campaign is over.

When questioned on his future, the 47-year-old is quoted as saying: "My duty and my dedication mean that I have to prepare for next season.

"We are not sure of anything in football. It is very difficult to talk about the future of a coach."

Newcastle end their season with a trip to Liverpool this Sunday.

Newcastle United 'offered services' of St Etienne manager according to French reports

The Chronicle understands that Galtier’s services have been offered to the club.

I like how they expanded on the headline.

I wonder if they would have ran the story if L'Equipe hadn't ran it first....

Man, this would be so sweet. I like the fact he'd be coming in from a less heralded club too, and so would be hungry. Also, likely to be cheap enough for the fat man too  :)

Sources close to #nufc playing down talk of Christophe Galtier being approached by club

And there it is

Agent: "Interested in up and coming French manager looking for a new challenge, used to working on a budget and producing attractive football?"

NUFC: "No, we have a manager on a long term contract thanks"

From what I've seen on google he doesn't seem to wear much of a tie. Great, no manager should wear a tie.
