"I have a lot of problems," he told Sky Sports. "My job is so hard but I am here to continue my job to the next week with my beliefs and I will try to win again.

Inspiring. Notice he's down to counting his time into weeks, we'll one week specifically . 😂

Personally I think he wants out.

Made a huge mistake and knew it probably a couple weeks in. Too much change at once, and it's backfired. Simply doesn't have the experience to understand this, he will next time, and probably tone down the stubbornness.

Such a pity the relegation battle is so cut off this year, in another season they might be right up to their necks in it.

Still, them being 15th in the league in fucking February is cause for a hell of a lot of laughter

Feel bad for him tbh.

I've moved jobs a couple of times before and known within a couple of days it was a terrible mistake.

New country, culture, style of football and pressure on top of that?

Brutal.

Close this thread man, where's the one for city Chelsea etc.. why are people so bothered about them?

Why? If you aren't interested just don't read it. I think it's better to keep all man united talk in here and other games today personally.

In any club you've got to get things at least working with regards 4 main groups within the club - the players, the manager, the fans and the board. There has to be some kind of collective theme going on there, some kind of continuity and common goal or target.

But at Man U it just looks like a bad episode of Ready, Steady Cook. It's like they're trying to make a meal out of a tin of sardines, 2 carrots, a bag of wotsits and tub of philadelphia. None of that shit goes together, it's just a complete mess, nothing matches, nothing like good and the result is utter pigshit

What do you mean trying to? That’s one of @loki679 ‘s favourite dishes.

His big mistake was steadfastly refusing to even contemplate changing his formation he's brought across with him. On the one hand you've got to admire his determination to make the system stick but at what cost? That shower of shit seem totally incapable of making it work, it looks fucking rank the vast majority of the time but he can't/won't change it. It's failing week after week and he's just watching it happen. He's running the risk of getting sacked before the squad clicks into shape and they eventually learn how to play it. He doesn't seem like a bad bloke but it all looks doomed at this point :):)

As I often say, Rich people have no jeopardy. Ruben wins either way, by taking the job he's set himself up for life.

It's often commented he didn't want to take the job until the summer yet he took it anyway.

He'll get a nice hefty payout from it all least.

We often say managers who take this type of poisoned chalice job can come out of it with their reputation relatively unscathed but I'm not sure that's the case here. He struggles to get another top job until he shows himself working elsewhere and with more flexibility than he has shown here.

I do feel for him, think this move has come too soon. What makes it worse was Amorim initially said as much when they recruited him, he asked to finish season in Lisbon and join in summer so he had time to prep. When they insisted immediate he should have turned them down.

I understand this view, but at the minute he's not going to come under much pressure from fans as we mostly understand that he's walked into a complete shitshow. What's happening now is what could and maybe should have happened in previous seasons.

He basically has had an extra 5/6 months for prep and will get a full preseason. I understand why the board wanted him to come in now.

I don't think it's even the players learning it. For me, they're doing what's being asked and it's showing how poor a system it is. Doesn't matter if you replaced Casemiro with Ugarte yesterday, or even had the best CDM in the world, when they're on their own because Fernandes is being asked to go far right, teams will exploit it. Wing backs are then easily pinned back because every side in this league will have wingers that are capable of exploiting the space, so it's then three attackers often isolated up top.

The attackers are probably the one area I can give some credence that it's the players, because Hojlund is regularly shit at most things to do with football, Zirkzee as wonderful his touches are, moves like Casemiro and then it's a clearly out of form Garnacho. Better attackers, they score yesterday and win, but it completely masks the fundamentals that are broken. Something that was obvious under ETH for like 12+ months to the majority.

People in media will fall over themselves by blaming the players, manager needs backing etc. rather than actually argue the fundamentals are wrong. There's been no upturn in performances after like 20 games which you'd really start to expect by now. He needs a good final 25% of season, otherwise I do believe Ratcliffe will want some heads to roll if there's no Europe.

Guy took over with them 4 points of 3rd, and I highly doubt it was with a remit of "This season can be write off, don't worry if you don't get Europe, it's all good".

I'm sure the large wages and hefty pay out will make him feel better.

Plus he'll walk back into a job in Portugal

What position in the league would be seen a a minimum next February

As an outsider I'd say 8th or lower wouldn't be good enough.

that’s a very big if to me. I mean, the board really tolerate this messy displays and not firing him, is a very big IF imo.

I would agree. By next February, he'll have been in the job 15 months and will have had three windows and a full preseason to implement his ideas.

How much patience the fans will have depends on how well he's backed in the summer and how the team is performing. The players he has are better than 15th.
