I've not backed Onana outside of a few months at the start of 2024 where he looked like he was turning a corner. I've been fairly consistent in calling him a fucking donkey.

I've not actually spoken to anyone who wants Amorim gone yet, but confidence is a bit broken.

🤪 you had him down for the Golden Gloves!!

Think Amorim's biggest mistake was to insist on not changing his system under any circumstances. It's a sign of his own faith in it I suppose but refusing to change anything when you're losing most weeks and looking shit in the process isn't a good look. It's all well and good trusting the process but it's left him nowhere to go. He's inherited a mess but he's had 2 windows now to get some of his own players in and signed a completely new attack and they're already out of one of the cups in August. That interview last night was nightmare stuff and exactly the type of thing that managers come out with a few weeks before they're inevitably sacked

I sent the text to my Mancunian friend that excited to see the draw if they get better draw or us in CL.

and also that hope to avoid them in Carabao as with the Sesko, Mbuemo, Cunha transfer spend they will be hard to stop.:)))

fucking hell Sesko was like the 9th pen taker last night for them, unreal how he didnt take one in the first 5, was probably hoping it doesnt get to him. not much confidence i this guy.

They’ll do well to get a better draw than us in the CL this season …

I wouldn't say a massive fraction. Howe has spent well over £600m has he not?

I could say Amorim has had a fraction of the time and a fraction of the spend Howe has.

;)

In his first two windows Amorin has spent slightly more than Howe did in his first two, €259 and €233 according to transfrmarket.

Adjusted for inflation it'll be more or less the same.

However Amiron inherited a much better squad and of course Howe was much more successful in his first 10 months

Again, I don't want to compare the two. There's few managers I rate higher than Howe.

But I'm just saying, Amorim has essentially had one window to properly improve the team, and we're three games in to his first full season. It's way too kneejerk to suggest sacking him. I expect it from rival fans, but not from our support.

I think he'll walk before he gets sacked.

3 games into his full season as an excuse. Howay man. Pull the other one.

You're 40 odd games into his tenure and he's won less than 1/3rd of them despite having a squad of internationals that cost billions and who earn hundreds of millions. And loads of the games he's won were against weak opposition in the Europa

Any decent manager with some tactical nouse and some motivational skills could get some form of a tune out of the squad he inherited, certainly enough to win more than 1/3rd of their games

He's shite man

He had a squad of cunts. I don't give a shit how much they were signed for and how much they were paid. As many on here pointed out, the rot was/is deep. It was never going to be an overnight fix and people knew this.

9 months is not a long time for someone to completely change the fortunes of a football club. Yes, it needs to get better, but it's early days.

As I said earlier, say we get 7 points from the next three games. The noise goes away. Lets just wait and see.

You did compare them though.

Anyway, for what it's worth I can't see another season not qualifying for Europe being acceptable.

Aye I maybe did but I don't want to.

And yes I'd agree. The squad is far too good to not be finishing at least a conference league spot. I do think we'd accept 8th, and then we'd go big on Baleba or someone similar and it'll be CL or bust.

It starts with Burnley. Manchester United are back at 5pm on Saturday.

Whats their psr status and how will Masters etal allow them to spend their way out of it? Another 20/30m to get rid of Amorin and another half billion on new players? Its allowed "just because"

How far does Man U stock have to drop before they are no longer counted as "big 6" and not bringing pl money viewers?

It must be coming....the Asian fans they built up in 90s/00s will soon lose interest not watching a team winning every week

Never happening unfortunately. Their commercial advantages are so entrenched, they could probably have another decade of this shite before it started making a genuine dent.

I think Froggys right in fairness Man U are not going to recover until they get rid of the short termism that has plagued their managerial thinking. They need to stop looking for a manager to who can get all the wonky parts they have randomly assembled to fit in the same team somehow and instead just rip off the scab and do the needed surgery.

It's just I am not sure how many quality coaches have just one formation they will stick to no matter what, it feels such a random hill to die on.

What did you make of his interview after the game last night? Some really strange comments to make imo

Whilst chopping and changing has a negative impact, you don’t want to suddenly stick when you have a knacker. I’m glad Newcastle didn’t stick on Souness, Allardyce, McLaren, Bruce etc

The comparisons with Howe helpful. Amorim took over a cup winning side playing in Europe and turned them into a team finishing 17th, Howe has done the exact opposite - for the same squad investment!

Where can Amorim take them next, I’m excited to find out

I've took you lot against Burnley in the last man standing competition I'm in. Picked before last night's game though.

Vincent Kompany fucked it for clubs and made it easier for managers to play poorly and get humped after he kept to his "philosophy" with Burnley then got the Bayern job (see also Russell Martin who will shortly be paid off from Rangers and then have to go home to the comforting bosom of Lucy Pinder with a second nice fat payoff cheque in a year. Poor lamb). Amorim is welded to a formation his players seem unable to make the most of and may mean sacrificing further homegrown talent like Mainoo. Which seems like the antithesis of the core values of Manchester United. He doesn't understand two key points . One being English football and the other being the Premier League. His players last night weren't willing to compete until well into the second half and even then they weren't playing with the intensity of a side desperate to win the game (see also the Europa League final, lads you're fucking getting beat) in comparison to say our efforts on Monday night. I've said many times Amorim doesn't seem to understand that you have to have a central midfield that has legs in it and at least one player who is  prepared to get among the muck and bullets. Ten Hag's big mistake was not keeping Sofyan Amrabat beyond the loan who was superb when I saw them play us. Principles are all well and good but sometimes you need the players to get their foot in and graft for a win. There's no leaders on that pitch and there's far too many players who aren't even aware of the expected standard let alone capable of setting it.
