Mad how I don't even consider Man Utd to be a rival anymore

Not that you were ever our rival, but you'd think Newcastle are sitting top of the league at the minute and not right down there on the same points as us.

Bit harsh to say he hasn't addressed the glaring holes in the squad. We're desperate for a keeper and a midfielder, but we were more desperate for goals.

There has been huge improvements in the play, but the results aren't there yet.

Have a look at this forum after we played Arsenal and after the first half hour against Fulham. "Man United will be good again unfortunately." "That's what happens when you spend £200m on a new front line, it'll work eventually" "Man United look far better. They'll be miles better this season" Now one game later we're the worst in the land again and it's never getting better. Football fans are fickle.

You'd think we're the only side in the Premier League sitting on one point.

Tbf some of us said that your new players just needed some more time to fully embrace the rot that is in your club.

And that was a cheap shop ;)

Big problem is Grimsby were the better team for most of that and showed more fight. Also the best signing of the summer splurge is so fat he will just be keeping the Brazilian pig company at McDonalds.

I never mentioned current league positions tbf Froggy I predict we will finish above yous again relatively easily, the point I alluded to is I don't consider Man Utd as a direct rival anymore & given the last 6 games between the 2 teams I suggest the gap is growing exponentially.

5 wins for the Toon with an aggregate score of 14-4 indicates this also

They will be though. There are some cracking players in their squad. They just need to bring in the right manager to get back to challenging the top 4.

Not convinced they can attract any "Right manager" tbh - its a poisoned chalice & the clever managers know this

Rivalries aren't built over two seasons though mate. We haven't been your rival for a long time. You're simply a better team than us at this moment in time, but it's not a very exclusive club.

Amorim was insane to take the job midway through last season. Sporting were untouchable while he was there, he would've likely led to them to a treble and then had his pick of the jobs this summer.

Any English football fan would've told him that Man Utd is a poisoned chalice, but managers have big egos and like a naïve teenaged girl who only dates bad boys, they always think they're gonna be the ones to change it.

He’s been exposed as being an extremely limited manager and coach - he’ll get a huge payout for being shite

Adorable belligerence, we had no past, present or future during 14 years of Ashley, now we've emerged from that period of inertia I think we can now measure the 2 sides equally, Newcastle are clearly on an upwards trajectory, Man Utd just off the back of 8th, 15th & 16th league finishes & their record breaking 42 points accumulation last year are not currently & imo wont be a serious rival to Newcastle for the foreseeable, the stench coming out of Fold Trafford (sic) is increasing by the day imo & will continue to fester

Any decent manager would crawl to manage Man U as they do back their managers in the transfer market which is all you can ask for. They've just appointed a series of terrible managers or managers past their prime.

You're absolutely right but will they be the "Right" manager ?

Here's a list of the managers over the last 11 years, some good some not so good, they didn't do that well in all fairness.

I've just watched Amorim's post-match interviews. He's as good as offered his resignation. One of the great things about following football is you've never seen it all. That was astonishing.

Right from the start, I've been surprised at the negative air that he has injected into his comments to the media. He sometimes gets applauded for his 'honesty', but he needs to be encouraging his players far more. 'Honesty' is for the dressing room.

Sesko looked lost. It was like Hojland all over again. When your centre forward is the 10th one up for a penalty, there's something wrong.

Who's good? Mourinho and Van Gaal were well past their best and Ten Hag and Amorin have only had success in minor leagues.

Heaton

Dalot Maguire Yoro Shaw

Casemiro Mainoo

Mbeumo Bruno Cunha

Sesko

Easy really this management thing, 4-2-3-1 suits the squad so much more.

Mbeumo was a misuse of funds considering it will stunt Amad's development.

It’s not three games in either, he’s been in charge for like 40 games, and they’ve been consistently crap in all of them.

Should’ve went out to Lyon in Europa QF, and he wouldn’t then have the SF and F appearance as a fall back. There’s been 0% redeemable about his spell in charge. Potter has done more, and he’s one game away from being sacked.

The disaster has already occured. They didn't sack him in the summer and then lashed 200m on 3 players two of which they didn't need.

They didn't learn a thing from the experience with the Dutch fella, they so far have repeated it one for one. They are a bunch of clowns.

You both know what she and others mean though. For many reasons he's been given a lot of rope because he came in mid-season and he's basically been allowed to class the start of this season as his actual start.

I kind of want us to take a punt on Hojlund for say 25-30 or so and hope a restart for him makes him great for us with a bit of proper confidence.  Love the thought of him suddenly looking like a real player with Tesco struggling hopefully.  Even if only for that
