Maybe 10 years ago but if you look at any top manager these days they all play numerous systems both game by game

and during games.

Beggars belief he thought the idea of making their midfield even more porous and slow would be something that would bring results, particularly away from home. Not too mention their ongoing woes in goal.

It's mad just how far this has suddenly been stretched as well. Like you say, 10 years ago would you have ever believed that Pep would park the bus against anyone, let alone Arsenal? I don't think I'd have even believed it 2 years ago, but now suddenly the trend is to be really flexible and treat every match uniquely, possibly because now the league is so strong?

I dunno, Howe's been at it for a while as well, there have been tons of matches post 22/23 that we haven't pressed at all in, and tbh I don't mind it at all.

Man United havent won back to back Premier League games under Amorim

Never mind Amorim, MOTD just pointed out they haven't had back to back PL wins since May 2024.

Broken record, but being totally stubborn in your setup simply means everyone can prepare very easily to play against you. It's blindingly obvious.

This is spot on, like. You're essentially telling every opposing manager 'this is exactly how we're going to set up and play against you' weeks and months in advance.

Clubs have spies scoping out training grounds and shit to try and get a clue about this stuff but Man Utd just straight up take out a full page advert in the national press to let everyone know what they're planning

Exactly. Brentford changed their entire formation and setup to exploit it  it's too easy

Would have worked in Portugal where his players were blindingly better than every team bar 1 or 2.

In the Premier League pretty much has a very good manager, scouting system, good players who can stick to a game plan and punish.

I think as long as the ball is dead but I'd imagine it's a ref's call.

So does that mean that Liverpool can make subs but no other teams are allowed to do so?

Never heard of this not being allowed like, is it not upto the ref

I think it's a bit mental that Fernandes stood there for ages waiting on VAR making the wrong decision, then the ref allowed them to make subs as well.

As Rita Mae Brown so eloquently wrote:

“Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results”

Although for Amorim, I think we need to go with:

“Side splitting, thigh slapping, ROFL’ing hilarity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results”

Glasner and Iraola should just stay put. Their chance of getting a proper big job will come. They would be insane to take this job. I would like to imagine that these kind of managers are way smarter than some players. Didn't know much about Amorim before, but at the time I said he'd be stupid to take this job. IF he had taken another job instead I think there might have been at least a chance of him doing well. I don't rate him now but this job was doomed to fail from the off.

Have to say that I genuinely fucking enjoy ManU these days  I take massive satisfaction from this. Absolutely love it, not gonna lie.

Not only that, you're suggesting you didn't have the right players for that system. So everyone knows who to target as well, pretty baffling.

You can bad faith it as much as you want. Everyone’s enjoying the show

No bad faith, but the teams we were expected to be rivals with are below us this season. There's ample time to get back on track whether it's with Amorim or not.
