I think the FA are only sticking with Hodgson because the other options are so limited. He had a decent Euro 2012, he'll do for the 2016 tournament. That'll be their mindset.

He was responsible for our worst performance at a World Cup since 1958. There's no reason whatsoever for him to be kept in a job.

You performed as expected at the World Cup. England were never getting out of that group, sorry.

It doesn't even make any sense.  If we're on top we want him to sit back in a defensive position, if we're under the cosh we want him to get forward?

Boil it down it sounds very much like kick it long and run around.

Colback's all-round qualities are a real asset, because whatever situation he finds himself in, he can make a reasonably good fist of it. He's not a specialist creative player who can't tackle, or a defensive player who can't pass. It's also easier to get the right blend in midfield, with players like Colback.

We have three great young midfielders in Wilshere, the Ox and Barkley. We need someone behind them to hold things together. Henderson is the front runner, but he hasn't made an overwhelming case, so even though I wasn't expecting a call-up for Colback at this point, I can see why Hodgson at least wants to take a look at him.

Jack of all trades, master of none :dog:

...is the wrong way to look at it. It's a team game, and he adds something to the team.

He adds nothing interesting. I'm not entertained by him running round 90 minutes with his gob hanging open, although I am slightly intrigued

 he's gone into overdrive of c*** quotes so far this season

 He's f***ing unbearable at the minute.

 He's got so much swagger since he didn't get s*** canned last year.

Same cunt who was too scared to step out of the dugout 3 months ago.

Pardew loves an English player. Two games in and all this?! Extraordinary for a pretty standard midfielder. Ben Arfa literally has 50 times the talent, and isn't even allowed to feature.

By next week he'll be signing for Barca.

Keeps it up til January and Mike will be flogging him to Spurs or something for a vastly inflated price.

£10m profit in 6 months? Usually how he operates isn't it?
