loki679
He's not a Cabaye replacement.
TRon
Didn't realise he'd only been here 2 years, feels like a lifetime Some people on here actually thought he was coming here to replace Dan Gosling I think that's what he's turned out to be tbh. Tiotes Witch Doctor
Gosling was better.
Hanshithispantz
He came in and certified our relegation within a couple of years. Probably our most impressive signing yet, and free too.
Superior Acuña
Genuinely forgot he was playing on friday til he got subbed off. Hard job not being noticed with that hair too.
xLiaaamx
Hope the fact he was hooked first is a sign.
arnonel
For the love of _________, can we get a ColbackOut.com campaign going please ! We need banners and everything. Now - do we boycoutt or not?
Wallsendmag
Have to say it shocked me how bad Colback and Anita were on Friday. I thought the Championship might have been their level but they both looked hopelessly out of their depth once again.

I don't know what there was to be shocked about, the idea of them playing in the same midfield was ridiculed plenty over the last couple of seasons. Generally that was because they'd historically been in the middle together. Anita out wide was a completely different prospect.

Generally that was because they'd historically been in the middle together. Anita out wide was a completely different prospect. I'm of the view that we only really needed Hayden in that midfield in a defensive role. To take the ball forward neither Colback or Anita really have a reputation for it, so when it didn't work it shouldn't be that surprising.
Wallsendmag
Agree. Shouldn't even be entertaining the idea of 2 defensive/holding midfielders in this league.
ponsaelius
I'm not even sure we need one. We played Guthrie and Nolan in a midfield two last time when we ran away with the league, and they were either physically or defensively hopeless. It's not really in Rafa's nature to go without one though.
Guest dabe
Hayden/Diame looks fine to me, good skillset between them and far more composed/mobile than Colback is. Anita as backup. Shelvey as luxury.

Think I agree with that. I'd like to see Shelvey get games where possible. But he's pretty unfit and supposedly a pisshead So I can't see him starting too many games. Yorkie
Hayden looks to me like he can carry the ball and play a forward pass anyway.

Skeletor
Can't really remember a player that caused so much despair. Even Alan Smith and Nicky Butt had the class to get injured from time to time.
toon25
Aye. Butt was old and Smith kept getting injured by throwing himself into needless tackles. No danger of that happening with Colback.
xLiaaamx
Smith was better than Colback though.
Yorkie
Smith was better than Colback though. No he wasn't. Smith is the worst player I've ever seen play more than a couple of games for us. Awful, absolutely awful. I use my hatred of certain players as a barometer for how much I care about the club, tbh. Colback is this generation's version for sure, but he pales in comparison to Bramble, Bowyer (who improved, a bit), Jenas, Butt, Smith, Duff, Owen. There will be others. As long as the Pardewfication afterglow remains, I won't hate Colback as much as I have others.
