1 game in to the season

People are going on as if nobody is ever going to get injured / tired all season, not to mention having no idea how fit the pair of them currently are. For all we know by not guaranteeing them a start in every game McClaren is making them work harder for it? And when they do finally get their chance it may make them try their bollocks off to keep their place?

Nah man, McClaren's just shit for not picking your favorite player.

And instead he plays one of the most hated. That's the major issue, really.

Aye. Nobody would've minded Ayoze being benched for someone substantially better. Get real, man. I think many of us are just sick and tired of seeing our best players continually left on the bench for utter dross, as this was a constant under the Pardew and Carver eras. Can't blame us for bringing up the point that this lad deserves to start, along with Aarons, based solely on last season and pre-season showings. Too early to get daggers out for McLaren, but nothing wrong with stating an opinion.

The only valid point here is the fitness one, but considering both Aarons and Perez looked fine pre season and Obertan could hardly walk after 60 minutes leaving his fullback exposed then it doesn't make sense.

45 or 60 minutes of Aarons or Perez is better than 90 of Obertan.

He was not only exciting to watch but also effective. Indeed our best player last season, and thought it was bad enough he didn't start the last game against West Ham.

Want Perez up front with Cisse or Mitrovic tbh. Already tired of this one up front shite.

Think we need to drop Wij deeper very soon and get someone else in his position.

Would love to see Perez just off Mitrovic or Cisse as you say, we're basically playing a flat four in midfield anyway so the player in the AM position really needs to be a forward rather than an attack minded midfielder.

Wijnaldum would also give us a bit more strength in the middle as well as freeing someone else to play behind the striker. Colback Anita is too lightweight and neither have the footballing ability to compensate for it

Another issue is that neither are any sort of threat at all to carry the ball forward through the middle, think Wij playing in CM and breaking forward would also be tremendously helpful to whoever took his place in the #10 role.

Although I like that Anita likes to get on the ball I do feel that his role of dropping between the two centre halves to collect the ball is pointless in our system. If Colback didn't  turn his back and walk away when Anita has it it might work but with Anita that deep he really needs to be capable of playing long range passes out to the wingers and he just isn't unfortunately

Aye it's looking very much like that will be his best position. Hope that happens soon.
