McCormick Posted Monday at 08:00 Share Posted Monday at 08:00 It was obvious he’d do better in a less physical league. Always liked him but 30m for him at the time was a no-brainer to accept.

He spent a long time here and deserved better from our supporters. I was more concerned about the ones he got playing for us from our fans tbh. His current form might surpass that, but he didn't do as well for Betis as he did for us in 2019. Edited Monday at 11:07 by Erikse
Dr.Spaceman Posted Monday at 11:00 Share Posted Monday at 11:00 (edited) You could see he was a good player in that Championship season he had. Some of the goals he scored and contributed to were really good bits of football. His positional play was great and he linked up well with the midfield. Just didn't have the physicality to be a top player in the PL. It was obvious that he'd be away when Rafa went, the club was showing little to no ambition and yeah, 25m was a good fee for him at the time. No ill feeling towards him whatsoever. AyeDubbleYoo Posted Monday at 11:06 Share Posted Monday at 11:06 (edited) He was always a decent player, just part of a general meh or depressing era where I couldn’t get attached to any player really (except Ben Arfa). No hard feelings towards him but no real affection either. Edited Monday at 11:06 by AyeDubbleYoo

Longstaff and Willock weren't good enough, and Joelinton was a laughing stock. Schär was almost forgotten. Our midfield was considered to be a weak spot in a terrible team, but we had Willock, big Joe and Longstaff at our disposal. Today some of these players are like heroes to most. Dr.Spaceman Posted Monday at 12:56 Share Posted Monday at 12:56 Schar looked miserable throughout Bruce's tenure, his demeanor completely changed from when Rafa was here. How Bruce is still in the game is beyond me.
AyeDubbleYoo Posted Monday at 13:14 Share Posted Monday at 13:14 Always had affection for people like Schar who Bruce didn't know how to use. Anyone who didn't like Brucey, basically.

While I'm in here I'm chuffed for Ayoze. I'll always have a soft spot for him which is rare for me and most players from that time period. Got unfair stick while he was with us, unfair stick when returning with Leicester and as far as I've seen has said nothing worse than we felt as far as Leicester being a great opportunity after we swapped Rafa for Bruce, when he could've easily become resentful of our aforementioned attitude towards him. I'd say the £30m was a no brainer/good business etc but who cares when it was going in to the pocket of the fat man at the time anyway.
TBG Posted Monday at 13:26 Share Posted Monday at 13:26 Was Mitchell as Spurs when Perez scored his first goal for us? Makes you wonder how deep the rabbit hole goes with Mitchell.
