Guest Howaythetoon
Love perez, you can tell he's a sound guy. Hairline of steel as well. Rocker wishes he had his hairline. Only joking, I wish I fucking did Rocker wishes he had your hairline. He wishes indeed
TRon
genuinely felt we had the perfect mix of pace, graft, strength and ruthless finishing at the end of Rafa’s tenure. Ayoze was very much a 30m player and can only assume he was ready to go the minute he knew Rafa was not going to stay. Ayoze ability to press, cover lanes and score beautiful goals were incredible. HaydnNUFC[/member] the Everton win gave me chills man. Ayoze scoring the Pickford spill after Almiron’s long shot and then of course the winner. As I said earlier, I'm not daft enough to think Perez was some sort of CL standard striker who all the top clubs were after. He had flaws, but against that he had some real quality about him as well. What disappoints me the most is that he really felt like a Newcastle player. I had no inkling he was going to be sold, it came right out of the blue as he seemed well settled. Just sickened me tbh, he was one of my favourite current era players.
Lush Vlad
Did it come out of the blue? I might be wrong, but I thought he was being linked with proper football clubs for quite a while on and off? Plus I thought there were some quotes from him and/or his agent, saying how he wanted to play in Europe and challenge for trophies. Throw in the fact Rafa was leaving and a lot of matchday fans treated him like shit. I don't remember being in the least bit surprised at the time. Either that or I'd just lost interest in the club, so felt nothing.
TRon
I remember Spurs being linked on and off when Poch was there, but nothing ever came of it. The European stuff re trophies I never really took seriously as his career hadn't developed to that point. So yes it took my by surprise a bit, but in hindsight I can't blame him. Leicester are far from a glamour club, but they are light years ahead of us right now.

Lush summer day, we’d played some good football for 5 months, Benitez was in talks in London with Ashley and Charnley, contract looked a formality with the Monochrome takeover almost certain. Rondon was going to be our number 9. No hint at the time Perez was looking to leave. Within 2 months we had no takeover, Bruce was manager and Joelinton was number 9. Amir_9
Was one of my favourites during his time here. Scored some vital goals and assisted in some class play despite his shortcomings at times. 1.7 or 1.4 million he cost.

Shaking at how fucking horrendous those few days were when the momentum was going in that direction. That press release statement announcing Rafa was leaving literally depressed me. Perez left a few days later. Ugh.

Guest
We got some right bargains under Carr, like. Contract guru. (Perez under £2m, Sissoko £1.5m, Gouffran under £500k ffs ).

Guest
He was as cheap, but those 3 were mid-90s prices cheap.
Shearergol
Gouffran wasn't even worth what we paid.
Guest
£400-500k would be cheap for a solid Championship player even in 2012/13 surely? He played over 100 games for us, had a decent season or two even in the Premier League particularly after he signed.
triggs
Overall he was probably value for money but he was generally terrible in the PL after an ok start. In one of the years where he was a regular starter he had like 35 games with no goals or assists Edit: Gouff not Ayoze
Infinitely Content
I loved that goal he scored against Ipswich (I think) in the Championship. That incredible team goal where we tallied up a ridiculous number of passes and he finished on the volley. Sensational.
maze
Apperently worth only £3 millions now…—>Source Would you have him back?
wormy
I'll always have a soft spot for him but I'd like to think we'll be aiming higher if we stay up.
Guest
Only rates Trippier around £8m too. Not sure how good that is.
Yorkie
At £3m I'd have six of him. In all seriousness, though I always was a big fan, I think we'd be better off looking elsewhere for a player to play his role. I'm sad that it hasn't worked out better for him at Leicester, seemed like the perfect club for him.
MrRaspberryJam
Would have him back under Ashley. Not now.
Mazzy
At this moment right now I would take him back because I think he's got something about him that would help us stay up. However its not January anymore and I wouldn't bother bring him back in the summer so that chapter has ended. He was decent and at times was a joy to watch but we are past that. Interpolic
Would 100% take him back as a squad player, not that I think it will happen or anything. His ability to play across the front to a decent level would be extremely useful.
Pilko
Think we'll have our eyes elsewhere come the summer but we can't just go out and buy a team of galacticos, we need to upgrade every position and have options and he's an excellent one. Would be super happy if he came back for a couple of years as we start to build and played a part, if not a starring role.
