TRon
If we're playing with one striker, then he's probably as good as anyone to float in the AM role.

hoppaz
In fairness to the lad I remember watching Steve Mc L play him for over an hour when we beat Tottenham 2 goals to 1. He pressed from the front and was excellent that match. If anyone can re-watch this he didnt hide but was great as we were away from home.
Guest
I think there was that and Liverpool at home back to back where he started just off Cisse, and while the goals came when they came off for Perez and Mitrovic, those two were very good.
xLiaaamx
Cisse blocked his shot in the first minute agaisnt Tottenham. What a donkey he was that year.
henke
There's an amazing amount of goodwill toward Siem. Some would say that if he were English or ginger he'd get slated. Not me though, I like him.
Dave
Well to balance all that I hope he falls down a drain and is never seen again.
Elric
Well fuck, for 50k a week I'll pretend I'm a nice dude while retweeting self-deprecating jokes about myself and giving interviews about how teh reeely bad thing happen. How about stringing together at least half a season of consecutive games played without your ever-living soul falling out of your arse? Hope he has a good season

LFEE
There seems to be a symmetry with this thread and the Gazza thread. Every time I see it either one bumped I'm fearing the worst

From what I have seen of him, he's been slow and largely crap.

Twinport53
He'd be a top player 20 years ago when fitness wasn't as a priority it was now. Riviere poking him in the eye and a collapsed lung aren't fitness, like

Interpolic
I read it as De Jong is not much of an athlete on the pitch, which is far more important these days than it was.
ponsaelius
Aye. It's not really fitness, but athleticism and his skillset as a player. I hate how slow he is and the fact he can't dribble with the ball. I think you're basically on a hiding to nowt in the PL usually as an attacking midfielder with those attributes. You could get by if you were a bit more physically robust like Nolan who had those attributes. I think De Jong has some qualities, just don't think he'll shine in English football because he's made of glass.
