mickthemagpie
The only time Cabaye will win a ball or two in the air is when Debuchy's sitting on his face. The technicalities of this scenario don't compute. Sorry just got it but surely its 2 balls!
Gallowgate Toon
Think he's going to be vital in home games where we need to break opposition down. You'd like to think his movement, along with Wijnaldum's and Perez's, will create massive problems for teams.
arnonel
We just have too many pretty good/exciting attacking options to be starting the alien
Smal
Can't see why Sissoko can't take Colback's place deeper so De Jong can play.
Guest Recoba
I liked De Jong's performance last night but I am concerned about his athleticism. I know it is not the be all end all, but he is the slowest attacking midfielder we have had since Kevin Nolan. He really cannot get around the pitch. Ikon
I think/can see De Jong playing most games where we probably are likely to have more possession, meanwhile away against the better teams he's may not be the perfect option for us. At least not until we are competing better possession wise in our away games.
The College Dropout
Sissoko is positionally suspect defensively at CM. Has to play in a midfield 3. Can only play them both in a midfield 3 diamond.
Wallace
I actually think De Jong looked much more mobile last night but I guess after virtually a year out, it will take time.
KaKa
What a gorgeous little header last night. Should start whenever fit. Too classy a footballer not to. Agree completely. Think he has been written off by too many because of his injuries. Very classy player.
Mole_Toonfan
Not really it's because Sissoko and Wijnaldum are better
sugoinufc
sissoko wijnaldum De Jong Anita to rotate...the 3 of them can all cover ACM position too.
KaKa
Sissoko on the right. Thauvin on the left. Midfield three of Anita, Wijnaldum and De Jong. Ayoze first off the bench.
U2
sissoko wijnaldum De Jong Anita to rotate...the 3 of them can all cover ACM position too. We'd get mauled with that midfield 3. They're way too forward thinking, there's no balance.
Mole_Toonfan
Sissoko on the right. Thauvin on the left. Midfield three of Anita, Wijnaldum and De Jong. Ayoze first off the bench.
The College Dropout
Sissoko cannot play in a 2 man midfield. I fear the same can be said for Anita.
KaKa
Sissoko on the right. Thauvin on the left. Midfield three of Anita, Wijnaldum and De Jong. Ayoze first off the bench. As a starting point, most definitely. Not starting him ahead of any of those folks to begin with. He should be first off the bench and start the odd game. If he continues to shine then look to move one of Sissoko or De Jong, whichever isn't performing as well as they should.
Mole_Toonfan
De Jong hasn't shown anything to suggest he should be starting above him other than reputation. I like De Jong i really do, but to fit him in you have to drop one of Sissoko, Thauvin, Perez and Wijnaldum and i personally can't do it.
KaKa
Once they are all fit and firing, what I mentioned above, is what I'd do personally. For now Siem should continue to come off the bench till he's up to speed.
bowlingcrofty
Not really it's because Sissoko and Wijnaldum are better Sissoko isn't better, like. Nowhere near.
Mole_Toonfan
As an intelligent footballer probably not, but Sissoko impacts the game far beyond De Jong and the rest of the team tbh. It's underestimated how important his ability to basically counter by himself is to the team even if he doesn't have the brain that De Jong has. AyeDubbleYoo
Not sure if that's fair considering De Jong has hardly played.
triggs
Not really it's because Sissoko and Wijnaldum are better Sissoko isn't better, like. Nowhere near. Sissoko is so underrated by some. I'd class Sissoko as our best player, above Wijnaldum as well. He's played a game and a half this season and was probably our best player against Southampton and the first half against Swansea(not much competition there mind)
ads
I liked De Jong's performance last night but I am concerned about his athleticism. I know it is not the be all end all, but he is the slowest attacking midfielder we have had since Kevin Nolan. He really cannot get around the pitch. When you have the intelligence and awareness that De Jong has on the pitch, you don't need pace or athleticism to be effective.
Mole_Toonfan
Not sure if that's fair considering De Jong has hardly played. True but that's why it shouldn't even be discussed, he's done nothing yet to warrant being above the players in question.
DJ_NUFC
The out of breath Kevin Nolan? We've needed a scoring midfielder anyway, so let's hope he becomes a fixture, either as a starter or a sub.
