Leazes_End_Mag
Hoyed his toys out of the pram after about 10mins and punted a short pass to Lascelles I think it was due to the non existent movement in front of him. Still absolutely shocking himself though.
Altamullan
I was absolutely convinced Janmaat would be offski, then it seemed he wasn't going to be. Anybody think he may be away/we've lined up some elaborate swap deal with some talented Dutch winger?
Guest
Nah, I think he's just using the squad. Wouldn't be surprised if he plays on Saturday and Anita is taken out.
Mole_Toonfan
Hopefully not, the bloke can't defend. It's not a coincidence in the slightest we went on an unbeaten run when he got injured to end last season. It's also not a coincidence that we looked so much better tonight without him, as we always do. His inability to defend and kamikaze decision making in terms of forward runs completely imbalances the team.

Foluwashola
Not sure Janmaat not playing and the much improved result are definitely linked. Anita didn't fair that much better tonight. Janmaat, if we can get him back to the form of a couple of seasons ago, can be a very good Championship fullback.

He's not a championship defender, he's a full back who goes forward well but defends like it's an afterthought.
xLiaaamx
He's some sort of Midfielder playing at full back and always will be. Anita was the other way round.
sempuki
Sounds ominous for Janmaat, especially with Sterry on the bench: http://m.shieldsgazette.com/sport/newcastle-united/latest-nufc-news/rafa-benitez-explains-daryl-janmaat-s-surprise-omission-from-his-newcastle-squad-1-8080278
morla84
He gave away the ball cheap in the run up to Huddersfields goal, and was subbed minutes later. I said to my mate I doubt he'll play again
Dr.Spaceman
I like him, but meh. He's been at fault for loads of goals over the last few seasons. He's nowhere near Debuchy or even Beye for example.
Ronaldo
He's nowhere near Debuchy Aye, OK. They're both just not that good at defending.
joeyt
Debuchy wasn't that good like
Mole_Toonfan
He's nowhere near Debuchy Aye, OK. They're both just not that good at defending. Debuchy was much better at both ends imo. He was actually effective going forward unlike Janmaat who is Santon like in that sense. Debuchy wasn't great defensively but he wasn't caught out as often and obviously much better in the air. Ronaldo
Janmaat's every bit as effective as Debuchy going forward. Debuchy was in a much better side, too. I'm not surprised his career's gone where it has because he was never a top-4 RB.
Seymour
Ridiculous that we are even contemplating letting him go
quayside
Ridiculous that we are even contemplating letting him go No idea if he is going or not. My perception from talking to people that have supported Rafa's teams is that he wants defenders whose first instinct is to defend. Janmaat is not that. Plus his crossing so far does not suggest he could do okay as a winger.
Dokko
Not fussed either way. Make a profit on him and replace with someone younger and someone who can defend.
Scotty66
Thought he was a fantastic signing when he joined but he hasn't improved us in any way. Would much prefer a more reliable RB. Think he would be outstanding as a Right full back in a 3-5-2 however.

Seymour
Lets sell our right back to a premier league club so we can play a midget midfielder out of position at right back?
Tiresias
Been very inconsistent but thought under rafa he could get back to his best, disappointed to see him go tbh, while I do acknowledge has been a liability of late
Scotty66
Lets sell our right back to a premier league club so we can play a midget midfielder out of position at right back? Karjala
If we got anything above £6m I'd sell the useless fucker. We have enough to get us through this season.
