Hard to discuss until we see the accounts and outgoings as well really. No doubt our income is very healthy compared to football clubs in general.

If we make a profit then all should go back into the club to make it more successful, that should be the basic principal. Trickier is the question of how much debt repayment is acceptable before net profit/loss.

Magpies in rude health

Newcastle owner Mike Ashley has his detractors, but Deloitte's list shows the retail tycoon is not a billionaire for nothing. Although success in major competitions remains elusive, Newcastle's large stadium and strong commercial deals puts them in a respectable 19th place on the list.

An average attendance of 50,688 at St James' Park was the third highest in the Premier League last season, while Deloitte notes the club's commercial income increased by an "impressive" 50%, to £25.6m in 2013/14. "Newcastle United are commercially in the strongest position in their history," the report adds.

Hmmm.

Aye, no real conclusions to draw yet. Let's ignore the last 7 years and wait another week just in case we've actually spent loads.

Ill be very surprised if Ashley hasn't taken money out.

Can't wait until they blame the inactivity on the exorbitant profits we're about to announce. They'll somehow spin it as "being difficult to buy players as the prices we've been quoted are huge. They know we've got a bit of money to spend." or some such shit.

Silver lining - the year on year profit increase will look incredibly attractive to potential buyers, if indeed Mike Ashley has a crisis of common sense and disembarks from this incredibly lucrative gravy train that is owning Newcastle United.

Him not taking anything out will be the only surprise possible. Everything else has been set in stone since Keegan took him to the cleaners.

He didn't apparently take anything out last time, did he?  We just made around £10m profit?  Same difference to us like, not sure what his motives would be for either.

The short term £11m ish part did as was always stated in the accounts it would after relegation. They told the Fans thing the rest of the short term loan was still unpaid though so about £128m loan left

I think this is part of the plan. Clearly from the statement he made at the start of the season, he plans to sell the club in 2016, otherwise why put a date on it. So he wants to show a couple of years healthy books to increase the club's value.

I don't know if it's because I've kept a close eye on it for years but it still amazes me people don't know the basic 3 or 4 numbers that have represented the clubs debt for the past 4 or 5 years now.

The loan he made the club on purchase is repayable.
