I’m not a Tory, not that being one makes one a bad person or uncaring and especially one for not feeling any real sympathy for people

That actually quite an accurate description of a Tory

Nice selective quoting…

For what it’s worth I know lots of people who are Tories and they are decent people, myself I regard anyone in government be it Labour or Tory as c@nts and most staunch Tories as such. I’m not one of them, one can be unsympathetic towards certain things though without being labelled as such.

Fuck me man, supporter police out of force again.

This shirt is the 1st shirt under our new ambitious owners that doesn’t have a dodgy payday loan company or parasitic betting company stuck all over. It’s also the 1st shirt in over 20 years that can have the Champions League badge stuck on its sleeve with legitimacy. Let people get excited. Some people buying that shirt can’t afford to go to every game, for some it might even be the only thing they treat themselves too at all.

If £70 is too much to spend for some people’s liking then fair enough, they aren’t asking for it to come out of your wallet.

It's nice and I'll inevitably buy it because I've the self control of Lindsey Lohan astride coke mountain, but it's so tiresome how they can't even at least put the effort required to make sure the black and white on the sponsor matches the shades of black and white used on the strip.

I mean shirts have never been cheap in my lifetime and I’m in my mid 30s. I’ve not bought a modern shirt since 2004. I thought 70 quid was pretty decent in this day and age.

I would be interested to know if anyone can remember how much shirts have cost in previous years. I was trying to remember how much shirts cost when I was a kid. I vaguely remember £45 in the mid 90s.

according to the BoE inflation calculator that means they are actually cheaper in real terms at £70 than they were at £45 in the mid 90s.

I couldn't find anything confirming previous prices though so maybe my memory is off. What I did find was an article that had researched shirt prices in the 80s expecting to show how expensive they are now. Well before my time I’m afraid, but the article said they had been surprised that actually shirts were comparably more expensive in the 80s compared to current prices by a significant margin.

£70 still seems a lot to me, but they were always expensive, never a bargain.

I could be wrong, but I'm 90% sure in 2017 when we released the 125th anniversary kit they done a deal on the website were it was 45 quid for the jersey,  prem badges and name and number, because I remember getting mine with rafa 1 on the back lol...

If that's the case the jersey has gone up 25 quid in 6 years....

I don't know what the RRP was but you could always get them on 'offer' under Adidas. There seemed to be a lot of undercutting from various stores and different sort of gifts often included. For example you could get free printing, footballs or NUFC bags certain years. £25/£35 my dad seems to think he'd pay for me and my brother's.

Funny you mention this, I was asking my Mam at the weekend how much she used to pay for my strips in the 90s when I was a kid and she reckoned about 30-35 quid so it's probably less than a quid a year it's gone up in that time. I'd say it was more or a rip off then that what it is now
