The College Dropout
The last euros had poor teams qualifying with 3 points. A lot of boring matches. Outside of Italy and some of the games in their half of the draw, the entertainment and quality was generally low. Wales got to the last 16, scoring 2 goals or something. I loved Englands Euros run. But was the football good? Was it entertaining as a neutral? Did particular players stand out with quality? Legend defining moments?
Geordie Ahmed
Euros haven't helped themselves by allowing some teams finishing 3rd to still go through
Wullie
Me, any other time: expanding the World Cup to 48 teams is absolutely ridiculous. More shite teams, more dull games, just to make a few more quid. Me today: is there still time for them to expand THIS World Cup? This empty 10am slot is unpalatable. Doctor Zaius
4 games a day is too much imo. Its hard to skive work and watch all of them. With 3 you could at least get something done at work between games. Also, its shortened the tournament. We'd be on for at least a few for days of group games yet, but not we're at the final group games already. Gone too fast.
The Prophet
Three games a day feels optimal. With four, I'm lagging by the time the final installment comes on.

Miggys First Goal
God help us if Australia/NZ ever hosted a World Cup. Most of the matches would be played during the night our time.

Miggys First Goal
They've got the Women's World Cup next year. We'll see how that goes.
ponsaelius
Reckon if Oz/NZ got the World Cup I'd have to just go. Take a month off work. Could not be dealing with games in the middle of the night.

We've obviously not had a massively shocking World Cup winner, but has it always been won by one of the most fancied teams pre tournament? Italy in 2006 maybe? Don't think you can ever be too surprised by Italy doing well in a WC but I remember it being somewhat surprising. gbandit
I’ve got mates in Australia who I’m pretty sure I’d be leaning on heavily if the tournament took place there. Would be an actual motivation to get out there as I’ve never really fancied it

I often go to sleep at 6-7am but that WC would absolutely wreck me.
Disco
Won’t happen for ages at least. Be some horrific oval stadiums too. At least the NFL ones next time are the right shape. Probably make an effort to get to 2026 mind. Just pick a city and have a week or something, Azteca is already on the bucket list.

If Denver would’ve been selected I would’ve recommended hanging here for sure. Short flight to the Azteca too. Instead they gave it to Kansas City. They’ve been seeing Kansas City as some hotbed of soccer though so I think they were always going to get it even though we’ve hosted plenty of tournament stuff here in Denver before and sold out Mike High (~75k capacity). Yes, France were hosts with a set of players that in hindsight is one of the best WC teams ever assembled (I'm talking of course of the likes of Guivarch, which you'll surely fondly remember), but at the time they were still unproven and France had been poor in the runup to the tournament, while Brazil were massive massive favorites. You could pick one of the coasts - East or West and then make it a road trip watching games in different cities. Combine that strategically with flights to places like Azteca or Denver?
