AyeDubbleYoo
He must be worth £15m like, anyone getting him for less than that is getting a good deal in the current market.
Noodles
That's f***ed it. We won't bid anywhere near that. Not that it comes as much of a suprise. A couple of cheap 3rd rate signings of rivière standard towards the back end of the window and that'll be our lot.
ads
Well who knows, with a proper coaching set up and better style of football, Riviere might scuff 10-12 a season.

AyeDubbleYoo
TBF I reckon Riviere could actually do alright. Not that it's good enough, but ye kna.
triggs
He must be worth £15m like, anyone getting him for less than that is getting a good deal in the current market. Van Persie was probably the best player in the PL when he went to Man Utd and that was only 20m with one year left. Austin is mainly a poacher who has had one season in the PL. 15m is still a lot of money anywhere outside England and we could get a lot better player for that price from abroad
LRD
Well if Leicester can bid £12m why can't we just bid around £13-£14 for him as we have over £50m already banked. Wouldn't rule that out tbh.
triggs
We don't even need a striker that urgently compared to other positions. I'd rather spend it on a midfielder that can pass, a winger or a centre half
Guest Roger Kint
Didnt these sign that Japan striker last week? Makes little sense they are bidding £12m with him, Ulloa & Kramaric all there without even having a manager....not like the rest of their team is great. They can't have inflated that much. We could get basically any player in La Liga outside of the top five for 15m and similar or less wages than we would have to pay Austin

Add to that Van Persie was also quite a bit older, meaning his value was only ever going to decrease during the course of his time with Man United. Those who think QPR will not get 15m for Austin need a reality check imo. TV money is ever increasing, as is the importance of investing to stay in the Premier League. This is something which everybody from Leicester to Watford seem to realise, but seems sadly lost on wor Mike. We simply need to spend big to stand still, let alone progress, or we will get sucked in the relegation battle again and come out the wrong side of it (again) sooner rather than later. Nowadays 10m gets you a promising youngster or a good player from the Championship, not a number 9 who has just scored 18 in his debut season in the Premier League. Unbelievable
I'm sure everybody would triggs, but even abroad teams are wising up to the riches in the Premier League and not letting their best players go for a pittance. I mean, look at what Man U paid PSV for Depay.

No one will spend £10m on a youngster or a Championship player unless they have got something special about them and a real chance of making it to the top. Generally only a player who shows signs of potential will tempt a club to pay that much.
Unbelievable
I'm not suggesting 10m isn't the top end of the Championship market. I was merely illustrating the point that nowadays 15m will not get you a striker who scored 18 goals in the PL last season, last year of contract or not. Guest
It's the going rate for a lower mid-table striker. As shown by Leicester being happy to spend £12m.

Mole_Toonfan
Bacca for 20m who has scored 20+ 3 years running or Austin for 15m. I know what I'd rather do, saying it's the going rate is an easy cop out. There are players across Europe who are much better and going for similar fees or just a little more. Because it's the going rate doesn't mean you should pay it, there are other leagues around then just the premier league.

Dokko
No chance we'll spend more than £12m on him so I guess the only hope we have is Leicesters offer was spread over 4 years and we are willing to pay upfront.
SEMTEX
I don't really care either way on this one (mainly because fuck NUFC), but I wouldn't completely discredit the fact Austin performed in the PL. There are plenty of big money foreign signings that don't do well over here for various reasons (or at least not in their 1st season), and I think proven-in-the-premier-league is worth paying for. Not that 1 year is the be all end all. But as I say, my most pressing opinion on this matter is fuck NUFC.
