Sometimes the club randomly does something smart and positive like this. It's weird.

 

Maybe he's the next Aidy Boothroyd or Owen Coyle, but maybe he'll become the next big thing. I definitely see him taking over from McClaren at some point.

 

I'll be honored to see him take some other PL club to the CL.

Interesting move for Ian Cathro and could be really good for Newcastle. Slightly surprised he didn't go it alone (yet). Hugely impressive.

Interesting bit about him not seeing himself as an assistant for long, two or three years at most. Natural Free successor to McClaren is probably the club's thinking.

 

Or he does alreet and someone comes in with a manager bid for him. Ding ding ding ding.
