Guest Howaythetoon
With a minute to go in the first half, the whole pub was screaming for us to launch it into the box, but England passed it around. I like that, don’t panic, try and play your own game and be confident that there is more than enough time during the second half to win the game. Usually we launch it long. Again there was lots of positives tonight. We lack a ball player/creativity in midfield mind and will struggle against anyone who can dictate/dominate the midfield areas. Huge goal threat all game though and again, the fact we didn't panic and kept plugging away was promising. Kane didn’t have a stellar game, but he looks like he can/will score even from half chances. He should have had a pen as well, blatant as fuck. Beat Panama and that’s us through IMO.
samptime29
Played well first half, created a strong amount of chances. Finishing needs to be improved, but we deserved the 3 points.

Rupert Pupkin
Martin Keown was driving me mental in the commentary tonight like, with his "this isn't the time for patience" nonsense, even worse than listening to Lawro during the Belgium match. The worst was listening to Jenas at half time though: talking about how we need to be more direct, and then compete for second balls! And he has the gall to suggest that his career wasn't what it could have been because of the time he spent at Newcastle! Thought we played well overall, created a ton of chances in the first half, total control without quite so much of a cutting edge after Tunisia went ultra defensive in the second, but clearly deserved the win. That referee shouldn't be allowed near another match anywhere on this planet never mind at this world cup; we should clearly have had a VAR penalty, at some point, more than one probably. On performance alone, we looked better than Belgium, by a distance. Belgium grew in confidence in the latter stages of their match, but they were very poor for large periods. Hopefully we could see a really good match up, with less nervousness from both sides in the final group game. I'm looking forward to it. I think the only change I would make would be Loftus-Cheek for Lingard against Panama. Lingard was poor today with his finishing, and went missing at times in the second half. Having the extra power of Loftus-Cheek in midfield could really help us against some of the bigger teams, but I wouldn't want to wait and throw him in cold, he showed enough tonight when he came on to be given an opportunity against Panama, imo. I wouldn't change Sterling for Rashford, though it is tempting, if we can get Sterling going for England against Panama, he could be a huge weapon for us further down the line. He just needs some confidence in an England shirt.
WarrenBartonCentrePartin
Watched us crash out in 2012 and 2014 in there. Appears slightly more upbeat this time! https://twitter.com/o2academynewc/status/1008776613146841089
Guest Howaythetoon
This pub sounds like it needs to smarten up. Fucking shit hole mate, full of students, sun readers and zany twats. Some youngin slipped and smashed his head against the bar and the staff just carried on serving pints. Sums up Gloucester. Enjoyed the Shearer chants though! Back at our hotel after a long day stuffing my face with a dirty kebab, grim
Deuce
What an odd argument. Who cares who Khazri plays for? Literally makes no difference to anything that has or will take place. Can remember approximately 0 teams making tactical starting XI changes after game 1 in a bid to finish second in a group they can win either, absurd. Spot on. Any team that did that would deserve the dog’s abuse.

Stifler
Watched us crash out in 2012 and 2014 in there. Appears slightly more upbeat this time! https://twitter.com/o2academynewc/status/1008776613146841089 I was there, in fact, you can see me in the red top on the balcony in that clip. It was a good atmosphere, they were so loud that at times I didn't know if it was the people in the 02 academy who were making the noise, or if they had managed to increase the volume of the crowd at the game through some sort of audio software. After both goals, drinks were being thrown everywhere, pretty much across the floor and even from the balcony. Me and my friends hadn't managed to get in early enough to stand and be able to have a good view, hence why we opted for sitting up in the balcony. Anyway, I have never seen a crowd anywhere have various mosh pits at the end of a football match.

MW
Probably need to play Rose for the next game. Southgate’s philosophy seems to be using his experience as a player. That will involve, I think, using other players. And rose would offer us balance on the left. That win is massive for confidence. Just think of the mood the fans, and players, if we’d drawn that game. It was massive to win

Super Duper Branko Strupar
Don't think Lingard should be starting personally but I'm not sure who'd take his place. Wrong position for Rashford so probably only Loftus Cheek as Welbeck is garbage and it's important to keep Delph available for 4th/5th choice left back. Anderson
Watching highlights, forgot just how clear cut some of those first half chances were. Genuinely should've been at least a few up at half time.
M4
He seems to be alright with it now. Actually in seriousness, in that BBC documentary Southgate spoke well about it. Was interesting. Said that it was liberating for him as England manager now, because it couldn't possibly get worse than that moment for him.
