LoveItIfWeBeatU
I don't rate him. I'd love him to be a success for the good of NUFC but I can't see it ever happening. He's slow, an awful finisher and must have a head shaped like a 50p piece going by his headers when near the opposition goal. Prove me wrong Mitro. Dave
Have to admit, despite not rating him I always forget how young he is. Might as well keep him unless we're willing to spend decent money on a replacement (in addition to the replacement for Murphy we need). Which we're not. madras
As much as I like him, under Benitez he's never going to be more than a last gasp, throw him on for for last 15 when we are behind, player
Guest
Weird how in the Premier League he had a good impact from the bench under Rafa, yet in the Championship he had a hand in 10 goals in 11 starts, and nowt at all from the bench.

Not that this is it as I can't exactly claim recollection perfectly every kick from every game like some on here but only the Norwich game at home did we play to his strengths whern he came on. TRon
Not many I've wanted to do well as much as him. Losing faith mind, thought last season would be a big one for him. I didn't, his main assets are his physicality, that was never going to make much more impact in the Championship than in the Premier. He needs to go back to the Belgian or Dutch leagues where defenders aren't used to it.
loki679
Can a mod please remove the 'I love Gouff' caption and change my name to 'Merino'. It's been a fucking year now I think you want to word this request very very carefully
Superior Acuña
I think we should keep him at this stage. We're late in the season with no new strikers, and we need one even if he stays. I'm losing faith, but like someone said, he is actually canny young still. No point in selling now if he's happy to stay.

LoveItIfWeBeatU
I'm not a fan of Mitro but I wouldn't loan him out. I'd have sold him earlier in the window but there's no guarantee we could replace him now. I'd still sell him if a loan was sorted for a better striker before the transfer window closes. Aleksandar Mitrovic set to STAY at Newcastle as Rafa Benitez turns down loan bids Newcastle United striker Aleksandar Mitrovic plans revealed by Rafa Benitez in fascinating new interview BY MARK DOUGLAS 22:30, 19 AUG 2017 Newcastle United will keep Aleksandar Mitrovic past the August 31 deadline – after turning down loan offers for the Serbia striker. Rafa Benitez signed Joselu this week and has hinted that will conclude his striker dealings – saying “more or less, we are fine” with Newcastle’s three out-and-out forwards. That means a Newcastle future for Mitrovic, who has had plenty of interest but nothing concrete in terms of a permanent deal at the price United would sell. Loan offers have been turned down. Benitez used the striker during pre-season with Dwight Gayle out injured and he was typically hit and miss – performing well in certain games but looking sluggish in others. He can score goals in the top flight though: he hit nine goals in the Premier League last time out. Benitez says that at this stage only a “very good offer” for Mitrovic or any of his other strikers would tempt Newcastle, because the market is a difficult one of the Magpies to operate in at this late stage of the summer. “We have had a lot of interest in some of our players but the question is how much they have offered,” Benitez said. “If you say you can pay £220m for Neymar, how much is the striker at the next level? And the next? I said the other day, if you can kick the ball forward it’s £10million, if you can score it’s £20million. “So how much do you expect someone interested in Gayle or Mitro or one of our players to ensure it’s the right price? We would have to sign another one. We don’t have too many strikers.” United’s plans to raise more transfer cash this summer have stalled partly because of the prices they’re asking but also because those players have good wages that they’re not prepared to see cut. Mitrovic has always insisted he’s happy to stay at boyhood club United and it now looks clear that he will be competing with Joselu and Dwight Gayle for the lone striker spot – with Ayoze Perez the fourth option for Benitez. “Normally you will play 4-2-3-1, you can play 4-4-2 sometimes. Whatever system. We have three, four strikers if we put Ayo in if we someone else. More or less, we are fine,” the United boss said. Benitez wants more players to arrive and has spoken of potential “surprises” in the final days of the window – but there’s little prospect of big funds being pumped into the club’s transfer budget, whatever happens at Huddersfield or against West Ham before the deadline. Instead they will work in the circumstances they find themselves in: “Our fans are saying ‘Rafa is talking about keepers but we need another striker’. We know our job, we were looking for a striker, we were waiting and then we went and got him when he became available. “We cannot sell a striker now: why? We needed another one (before signing Joselu) and we now have three. If someone is coming (for Mitrovic), they would need to make a very good offer. Because if we go to the market now for a striker at the level now, how much would the price be? “The price would be a lot, or we’d miss out. If you want to replace a player now, it has to be enough for you to compete. It’s not an easy market for us now.” Ex-Stoke striker Joselu is set for a cameo role at Huddersfield today after Benitez moved to sign someone who he thinks has “potential”. “When we signed Joselu it’s because we thought he could give us something we needed. Mitro, Gayle, Ayo can play up front. With him we are protected and you have someone who has played in the Premier League before. It was difficult for us, when Gayle had a little problem we had just Mitro playing during the pre-season. “Now we have more protection and hopefully because he knows what it means to play in England, he will do well for us.”
