Infinitely Content
Might go for Abraham and Kenedy from Chelsea, plus another striker. Gayle and Mitrovic out. Wouldn't bother my arse with Abraham personally, would much rather we looked abroad or at least gave Mitrovic a run after a good development stint. Agreed. We would be mad to go for Abraham as our first choice striker at this stage. 4 goals in 25 for Swansea? Nowhere near good enough for what we need like. Nothing says he's better than Gayle or Mitrovic, in fact they both probably have better records than him lately.
Dinho lad
Sky have just shown Mitrovic MOTM interview with a mackem badge in his caption ffs Considering his goal record for us and for teams other than us, he probably is an Mackem agent.
samptime29
No way we should be going for Abraham. Don't feel he's any better than Mitro. If Rafa wants to sell Mitro, we need an improvement.
cp40
he will be the one to relegate them
mrmojorisin75
If we can get Slimani for around £15m I think the club would do it. they'll never go for that fee imo, maybe structured with that as starting due to his fitness +£20m easily for slimani and we'd be mental not to pay it as well if rafa rates him Can't see Ashley agreeing to pay £20m for a striker who is pushing 30, but it's difficult to see who else is available who would offer the same threat as a lone striker. If he gets £15m for Mitro and has to pay another £5-10m for Slimani I think he might do it myself. Mitro money is spent, he only cares about what he has to spend next. TRon
He's played 10 minutes, let's not start talking about potentially bidding £20m! Ashley breaking our transfer record - for someone with no resale value no less. Not saying Slimani will be the answer, but £20m won't buy you much of a striker these days unless it's someone who is pushing 30. Taylor Swift
Slimani should go for £12-15m. He’ll be 30 by the time next season begins. Price should be similar to Llorente.
Figures 1-0 Football
We could always do something completely ridiculous and continue to develop our own 23 year old goalscoring striker who has a better goalscoring record than £20m+ 29 year old Slimani. Obviously Gayle/Joselu need upgrading on, so Slimani coming in as a replacement for one of those would be fine.

That would be ignoring Mitro's lack of pace which I think Rafa's lone striker system pretty much relies on. I could be wrong but I think Slimani will be a much better fit regardless of the age or price tag.
Hanshithispantz
Rename the club Mitro United.
Hanshithispantz
I actually really like Mitrovic an all But Rafa doesn’t want to play him, he’ll have his reasons, we need a new striker.
xLiaaamx
We'll need three because Gayle isn't good enough and Joselu needs setting on fire.
Mole_Toonfan
Seems a waste considering Mitrovic is on fire, don't even need to set him on fire like Joselu.
Stottie
On the subject of what he is worth, Slimani is 30 in June and under contract at Leicester till 2021 when he's about to turn 33. For someone that age, a long contract heads into the zone where its less of an asset and more of a liability. Given Mitro is banging them in in the still cashed-up second tier of English football, they're probably worth the same now.

If you're Rafa, you are only bothered about which one will make your team perform better in the Premier, he won't really give a toss about the age or £ value. louistoon
Slimani should go for £12-15m. He’ll be 30 by the time next season begins. Price should be similar to Llorente. Or even a little less given he was being bought by Spurs and doesn't have anything near Llorente's experience/performance in top divisions. Couple of years younger though. The issue is how much leicester payed for him
Guest
He'd have probably done well at Leicester had Vardy went to Arsenal after the title win.
Zero
Correct me if I am wrong, but Slimani doesn't look a lot faster than Mitrovic...I think?

pinkeye
Correct me if I am wrong, but Slimani doesn't look a lot faster than Mitrovic...I think? I think there are many similarities between Slimani and Mitro but, from the very short period I watched him in his debut for us he impressed me with how quick he looked. He was powerful, mobile and got into some promising positions. I have a real soft spot for Mitro but, he has never shown the form he is playing with currently at Fulham while playing for us, well maybe he had a couple of decent performances but, never consistent. I always felt frustration with Mitro in that while Rafa always seemed to have a game plan for each match we played, when Mitro entered the field it looked clear to me that he was not playing to the system the manager expected. If he cannot follow instructions and worse than that cannot avoid stupid bookings then, in our team with the limited talent we have, he does not have a place. I do wonder if he even wants to come back to Newcastle now, he is getting regular game time and doing well. Something he will not get easily at Newcastle. AyeDubbleYoo
From Mitro's point of view, I doubt he'd be looking to come back if a move to Fulham is available. If Fulham get promoted it's a bit risky to spend money on him... but then I guess any striker they can afford will be a bit like that.
Tiotes Witch Doctor
There's no reason we can't ask for 20 million for him if Fulham get promoted, I'm very much a Mitro fan but hes never going to be a starter in a Rafa team that's obvious now, but it would be nice addition to the transfer pot Ashley's pocket for next season. LoveItIfWeBeatU
Mitro cost NUFC £13m a couple of years ago. He's in great goal scoring form since he went to Fulham. Transfer fees have gone even crazier since we bought him. He's 23 and on a long contract. Some Championship clubs are now paying £15m for strikers. NUFC should easily get £20m at least for Mitro if Rafa wants to sell him. Could even risk loaning him out again if we didn't need the money as he may appreciate in value.
