Pilko
Its probably a lot different to telling the players to sit in their hotel rooms looking at a football I bet Townsend hasn't seen a football yet Played in a friendly last night so id be gobsmacked if he hadn't. Yeah, he saw it flying over his head for most of the game
Chicken Dancer
He's in charge of a players committee according to Downie. Be surprised if he isn't captain.
toon25
Great news. Rafa has clearly seen something in him despite him being young. Delighted for the lad.
Leazes_End_Mag
In the video of the fan running over to Gayle to hug him today, you can see Janmaal walking over and getting ready to calm things down and then he backs off when he realises its harmless. John P
Love how this lad decided to step up and be a leader in the squad, great attitude.
Bimpy474
Love how this lad decided to step up and be a leader in the squad, great attitude. He did that when we were in trouble last season which shows you his character, you contrast that to Colo and others in the same situation. With effort and dedication Jamaal with Rafa's guidance become a top centre back, then by god what a proper player we have. And the player we've been missing at centre back for a long time now. mighty__mag
So its Gayle number nine and Jamaal captain. Gayle was 20 I think vs Bohemians. And Lascelles said he was made captain for the day, nothing permanent has been discussed as yet.

toon25
That's superb, that. For a pre-season friendly too. Really hope he's given it full time. He's going to thrive and we need someone like him that we can build the defence around. So excited for the start of the season man.
AyeDubbleYoo
Has to be captain IMO.
Ikon
Has to be captain IMO. I agree, and he probably will be unless something unexpected happens. Smart from Rafa to not pick one too early, even though he might already know his first choice.
Varadi
Think the only way he won't be captain is if Sissoko stays
Guest
Just a shame Rafa hadn't seen this before the Norwich & Southampton double header, good chance we'd have stayed up.

Dinho lad
Refreshing to see a young player taking his career seriously and who clearly self-reflects in order to improve. He's grabbing his shot at professional football with both hands as he's smart enough to realise that you only get one shot at it and have to make the most out of it. Impressive, indeed. Good luck to him.
Kanj
add to that he's also relishing being trusted by Rafa and the staff which I imagine is indicative of the level of respect he commands from the squad.

Stifler
A little kid ran onto the pitch at FT. A steward chased him, Lascelles came running over to have a friendly word to the kid to tell him not to be silly and to make sure he got to see a player up close. This guy just gets it. Hope you learned your lesson about not running onto the pitch.
