self inflicted wounds, theres going to be some comedy value just watching this club implode in the coming months

Or better depending on how you look at it.

Cheers Mike.

I know it’s a puff piece, but I was struck by how flat he came across - and that’s on the club TV. Hopefully misery is endemic...

EDIT: For those who don't like the Chron page:

Jamaal Lascelles breaks the silence from the Newcastle United dressing room following uncertain summer

Jamaal Lascelles has broken the silence from the Newcastle United camp.

The Magpies announced at the end of June that Rafa Benitez had left the club and they have so far failed to find a replacement for the ex-Liverpool boss.

Lascelles will lead the team out for their first pre-season game during their tour of China with Wolves standing in their way of a place in the final of the Premier League's Asia Trophy.

Lascelles said: "We will do our best no matter what the circumstances are.

"As professionals and players that's all we can do. Ben Dawson is putting on some good sessions for us.

"We can't dwell on not having a manager. You'd rather know than not know but at the same time we can't control it.

"It's my job and some of the others to make sure everybody is on it and training hard.

"Whatever happens, when a manager comes in, whoever it is going to be, we're ready for whatever instructions he is ready to give us."

Newcastle will be in China for a week and face their second game on Saturday night in Shanghai.

Lascelles, speaking to NUFC TV, said: "The only things we can control is to eat right, sleep and train.

"Some of us might be playing 60 or 70 minutes. It is quite a lot for a first pre-season back but those are the rules and you have to go by it.

"Everybody is looking to play and win the game."

I’d never publicly call my boss a cunt so I don’t expect others to, not interested in the football side now but I’d lay off him because of those words he feels obliged to say.

They will all think he’s a wanker no doubt.

He’s hardly going to come out and call his boss a cunt ffs

People are so delusional

Nah Mike, you're not a nice guy, fine me as much as you want. As long as NUFC supporters agree with me that's all that matters

This argument is tedious as fuck like. No-one is asking him to call Mike a cunt, but he didn't have to say he was a "nice guy" either. He chose to do that.

Also, plenty of professional footballers have nee issue calling their owners a cunt. See: Hero Ben Arfa.

Worth bearing in mind it’s not even the worst thing he said in that interview - he labelled fans negative. Was a mistep but he’s just a young lad

Thick as f*** this Ashley loving c***

BBC sport: Newcastle captain Jamaal Lascelles has called criticism of the club "frustrating", saying that players and fans must support new boss Steve Bruce.

Some supporters have threatened to boycott the club after ex-Sunderland manager Bruce's appointment.

"It is frustrating because [the reaction to news] is never positive, Lascelles said.

We're always being told we're not good enough or we're not doing something right [as a club].

You need to look forward, we've got a great manager coming in and we need to remain positive."

As captain he’s in a no win situation, he can’t be saying anything negative. The players need to be left out of this.

aye agree with this, no player in history has ever come out and said the new guy is shite we don't want him so don't see what singling out lascelles does
