The College Dropout
The Ancelotti team was challenging for the title neck and neck until the last 2 or 3 weeks - after the CL semi final victory then they literally threw it away. And Carlo would've got the chop were it not for Ramos header as that team deserved more than the Copa that season. If you're going to 'fail' as Real manager you need to fail playing in the Madrid spirit. Agree with whoever said he thinks he's smarter than he is. Prime example yesterday. Team needed creativity, instead of throwing on one of the most creative players in the world he thinks 'hey ho - width will get us chances, James you stay there. Lucas Vazza step on up'
Ronaldo
Odd sacking IMO. Not like they're doing that horrific, they'll get top four easily and Rafa has a good record in Europe, not like anyone they can find now will do any better. Bad appointment in the first place though but don't know why they wouldn't just leave it until the summer They are Real Madrid though, anything less than winning the thing is considered failure. So Top 4 would be considered a disaster probably. Didn't Ancelotti finish 3rd the year he won the Champions League though? Not like they were playing that bad either They did win La Decima and the Copa del Rey, though. A very good season overall.

Aye I agree but they are still in the Champions League(probably won't win it though) and should still be in the Cup. Not like it's a disaster and not like Zidane is going to win them the league
Ronaldo
Also don't forget that Carlo sang a few days after the CL win, too. Rafa's hardly likely to sing, is he?
Mole_Toonfan
It's the style of play as well though, i haven't watched at all but apparently they have been very negative to watch. Long term Zidane probably isn't the right answer either but they don't have much choice in the short term. As Ron said they are just a very bad fit for each other and you might as well get rid now and get it right for next season, they won't most likely as it's Madrid after all but it's probably the lesser of two evils as it stands. Aye well Ancelotti is clearly a better fit for a team like Real. Just think he should've got till the end of the season
The College Dropout
Zizou - there we go, this is the kind of appointment Perez needs to make. Win in style or bust. If not Zidane I would say someone like Rijkaard. No outstanding candidates anyway.

The College Dropout
Why would Real Madrid want to look normal and restrained? Genuine question.

BrettNUFC
Lucky to finish 4th Was such a horrendous appointment. Glad they've just held hands up and admitted they were fucking batshit crazy by sacking him quickly. Isco will dance into training in the morning! Glad they've just held hands up and admitted they were f***ing batshit crazy by sacking him quickly. Isco will dance into training in the morning! how is that so laughable? Atletico madrid and Barcelona i can see topping them then you have villareal one point off them and celta 5? Mole_Toonfan
They'll easily finish 3rd regardless man ffs
Village Idiot
Yeah, us and Madrid could be managed by a monkey flinging s*** at a tactics board and we'd still finish 3rd at the very least. Sad about Rafa.
Village Idiot
FWIW Zidane's record at Castilla is 26/17/14, which isn't that great (and he's been backed, they got him Odegaard for example). However, he had a torrid first season as a manager, with lots of off-the-field issues; they have been much better so far this one, once he's settled into the role. Guest firetotheworks
He's really not suited to being a manager from the outside looking in like. The very epitome of the quiet but temperamental hot head.
BrettNUFC
I don't think Zidane should have got the job this soon but Benitez out and basically anybody else in had to be done. As others have said, Real with that squad, in that league, will be 3rd even if Zidane is clueless. Looking forward to see what sort of impact he makes. Half expecting Ronaldo to have a new lease of life, he looked depressed under Rafa.
Flip
Don't see why Zidane doesn't have as much chance as most other managers to succeed. Not like he's gotten this job from nowhere. Been Ancelottis assistant and manager for the their B-team, was also quite close to the team under Mourinho no? So he's learnt from two very good managers as well as managed their reserves. I also think it's easier for someone with Zidanes reputation to do a job at a team full of stars as he'll get their full attention as well as his managerial flaws might be hidden by his players capabilities. nemtizz
“Five”, Suárez can be seen mouthing to the keeper before giving Neymar. He turns around again to make his point. “I’ve got five, and you?” “How many have you got, ballbag?” Was La Sexta's interpretation of what the Barça player said. http://as.com/diarioas/2016/01/07/english/1452207052_652108.html
