Word has it that we'll appeal and that we have 7 days to lodge it. Assuming this to be the case does this mean he'd be available for Boxing Day?

Yes. Depending on when the appeal is heard is feasible for him to only miss two league games (FA Cup 3rd round, replay, 4th round)?

That's what is being said yes but I think we're waiting to get it in writing off the FA first before Shelvey and the Club decide what to do next.

Chronicle and Mirror running with the cous cous nonce story now.

Looks like they are getting confused over fact and fiction too. Havn't they read every post in this thread to see it was a joke?

No one expects you to read every post, basic common sense expects you to not run with something that you've accepted as true based on nothing substantial though. It just shows how some accept things as news, or fact. You're being salty about something which is quite clearly your own fault.

Rather worryingly it demonstrates how the people who report the news accept things as news, or fact.

He has seven days to lodge an appeal and the FA have “set aside” the sanction until then – which means he could play on Boxing Day if the club decide to appeal. The club say they are awaiting “written reasons” until they make a decision. They should be made public soon.

Just read elsewhere he could play against Sheff Wed anyway and we can inform the FA next week that we don't want to appeal if we decide against it. Think Sheff Wed will be our toughest game out of the next half dozen so I'd rather he was available and missed Rotherham at home instead.

People are saying we could get the ban reduced if we appeal but I find that highly unlikely due to the fact it is a "minimum 5 game ban".

If anything the last few years on social media and 4chan trolls have taught us, it's incredibly easy to spread fake news. If the person(s) on this board went on and on about this whole cous cous nonce thing without immediately coming clean that it was a made up joke, you can't have multiple posts about it from multiple users and then act all "lulz" when some people actually believe it. It's a childish, c*** move, and belongs on 4/8chan, not on N-O.

Thought this was semi-interesting from Louise Taylor (ahem) in the Guardian:

The delay in initially bringing the charge and then holding the hearing prompted considerable frustration at St James’ Park. With a lack of video and audio evidence, progress proved glacial as the respective legal teams sifted through witness statements and studied precedents including the eight-game ban imposed on the then Liverpool striker Luis Suárez for racially abusing the former Manchester United left back Patrice Evra back in 2011.

I was told about the cous cous nonce thing in good faith, and the person who told me has some pretty decent sources and is still adamant that's what was said.

I would rather we got relegated to League One than support a racist so either he wins the appeal or is proved to be trivial, or we terminate his contract.

No other option should be considered.

Alright there lefty, don't fall off the edge will you.

No other option ffs.

So it was still people's words against each other and going off the Suarez case basically.

He's just saying what we're all thinking but too scared to say. Calling a spade a spade, or a nonce some cous cous, tell it like it is Jonjo.
