Itās such a big club to go and play for.Ā I spoke to Steve McClaren on the phone and I just liked every word he said and I just couldnāt wait to get up there.Ā I drove up through the night and it took about seven hours but I just loved to get up there.Ā Itās a massive club - in terms of size Iād put it on par with Liverpool.Ā Itās probably one of the best stadiums that Iāve gone to play every week at. The fans just are great. They get behind you and you seen last night exactly what theyāre like.Ā Theyāve just got the flags back as well in the stadium so itās tremendous.Ā On manager Rafa, he said:Ā Heās got such a good pedigree in the game, obviously with where heās been at.Ā He canāt be no fool if heās been in charge of the likes of Liverpool and Real Madrid.Ā Heās lways won trophies wherever heās gone and thatās something that we want to do at Newcastle.Ā At the minute weāre taking it game by game and step by step and hopefully we can achieve promotion.Ā On his goal yesterday: Itās about time I scored to be honest with you.Ā Itās been well overdue. I think the stat was that Iād had about 31 shots without scoring so itās about time I scored.Ā We played really well. We started off really well and we pressed and got the early goal, and that always helps you against a team like Brighton, especuially at home.Ā It was a great win.Ā Matt Ritchie wanted it (the free-kick), but I just said āno, Iām taking itā.Ā To be fair, it was on his side but I just had a good strong feeling that I was going to score it.Ā As soon as it was given, you can just see me running over to pick the ball up. I just said āIām having itā.Ā He was asked, Is Mitrovic as crazy as he seems?: Ā Yeah. I saw him at the airport this morning.Ā He is just a crazy character.Ā Heās a top man though and he looks about 36 even though heās only 21.Ā He is a top man and heāll be a handful in that Championship this year.Ā On the pressure to win the Championship:Ā Youāve got to expect that.Ā Itās our fault that we went down last season and we owe it to the club to get them back into the Premier League.Ā I think thatās why many of us have stayed and are trying to fight for our places in the team to get us back into the Premier League.Ā But youāre playing for Newcastle in the Championship.
