Do the media ever admit there's such a thing as a bad manager? Has anyone ever been declared to be bad at their job?

It's as if they just won't ever say a manager is not up to scratch, it's infuriating because plenty are shit but it's never said.

I don't think AVB was that terrible. Not great for Chelsea but he got more points in his season at Spurs than Pochettino did last season.

Much like Rodgers, his team was boosted by having a legitimately world class forward winning them match after match. I don't think AVB's a bad manager but he's not a very good one. He had John Terry & Michael Dawson as his main CB's for different clubs and decided to defend from the half way line on so many occasions. He didn't learn a basic lesson.

Yes, when they're new and foreign they'll happily criticise them.

Even with the explosion of things like Twitter there still seems to be no accountability for these ex-professional pundits and the rest of the Stone Cutters. A perfect example of this was the overhyping of Burnley yesterday, seems to be the new cold and wet night in Stoke. They're dull, shite and have a tit of a manager who isn't that great but because he's English the PFM cheerleaders have been to be onside.

Even though he's a bellend who clearly hates his job, at least a Lawrenson doesn't mind having an opinion and calling out a manager that isn't up to it.

Wouldn't surprise me if it's an unwritten rule as part of the TV packages that they can't be seen to be too harsh as it damages the brand.

Was walking past the East Stand after the game yesterday, and read the PL scores out to my son. After the Palace score some random lad turned around beaming and said "he's got to go, such a fraud" before wandering off muttering a load of Pards based abuse to himself.

"Who was that Dad?" asked my son, "I've no idea" I said back with a smile on my face.

Got to be someone off here?

He has haters everywhere.

If it were blanket across the board I wouldn't mind. But it's not. If the media defended every manager until the end at least they would be consistent. But it's obvious it's not neutral.

*SMC was one of a few British managers that doesn't seem to get the PFM treatment. Failing at the England job did that for him.

Bit harsh on Dyche. Burnley are a tiny club massively overachieving. He's done a cracking job imo.

I think Eddie Howe is probably the only English manager that I think is quality tbh, I like him and respect him as well. The only one anywhere near him is Hughton but that's largely because I'm biased.

Of the British managers I still think Hughes is the best. Looking decent for Stoke again.

This raises an important question: can non-English managers be PFMs? I wouldn't consider Hughes a PFM, nor really Moyes tbh.

I also wouldn't yet classify Howe a PFM, though there's still plenty of time for that I guess.

Bale wasn't a world class forward before AVB joined Spurs so surely AVB should get quite a lot of credit for that?

Howe's football is head and shoulders above any other English manager for me. He's the only one who plays progressive passing football with some success. The likes of Hughes play pretty typical British football which relies on big players and physical strength and there's not much invention there.

Surely Parrish isn't going to stick by him like Ashley did?

Gave him a lovely new contract around the cup final didn't he? Makes him far harder to axe. That and they're mates getting on together because they're both absolutely massive cunts.
