Heake
As daft as they've been with transfers over the years there's zero chance they sell Defoe short of a silly bid like £20m+ and even then... .....Unless there be one of those pesky "Release clause" thingys! TK-421
Thing is, at 34 year old there has to be a ceiling to what Sunlun can realistically expect to receive, and what any club is can be expected to pay, even with todays football money and crazy fees. They clearly think they have a Sissoko situation on their hands and can ask for stupid money. However, if he decides he wants to go and they price him out of a move, then they potentially have an unhappy (maybe even unmotivated) player on their books for another few months. Alternatively, they sell him and then any fee they get may just be absorbed into the club debt anyway. This could be a lose-lose situation for the Mackems now. mrmojorisin75
They clearly think they have a Sissoko situation on their hands and can ask for stupid money. not really, they clearly know he's their only goal outlet for the most part and if they let him go they're down had they been mid-table i think they'd accept a decent bid for him given his age
NG32
It all comes down to the player, if Defoe fancies one last run at West Ham before he hangs up his boots then its in Sunderland's interests to get as much as they can for a 34 year old player, they wont get mega bucks tho. Its in Defoe's hands.
Guest firetotheworks
As hilarious as it would be, I don't think there's even the slightest chance that they'll sell him. If they did I think Moyes would walk as well, and rightly so.
Figures 1-0 Football
Defoe is certainly going to be tempted by this, will get a wage improvement at West Ham and the opportunity to move back home at the end of his career. A fantastic situation all round though, this will definitely unsettle them.
sbnufc
Surely its a no brainer on Defoes side at least Born like 2 miles from Upton Park, his boyhood (and youth) team want him for what will probably be his last contract in football. Fucking hell if this was me & Newcastle and I was playing at like.. Swansea now I'd be handing my transfer request in ASAP
loki679
As hilarious as it would be, I don't think there's even the slightest chance that they'll sell him. If they did I think Moyes would walk as well, and rightly so. Then Pardew takes over, gets them relegated along with Fat Sam and Palace, we go up as champions with Chrissy Hughton in 2nd place and everything's right with the world. Like return of the jedi but with football and cunts and incest.
nufcjb
Moyes is going to go soon even without Defoe being sold. He obviously won't get money to spend unless he sells first and even then there isn't much guarantee he gets to use the money. My feeling is he'll probably give up at the end of January but if he does stay, would they be tempted to keep him in the job for the sake of not paying out another compensation package and risk relegation with him? God they're in such a mess. Like someone said earlier, they're in all kinds of lose-lose situations.
Ketsbaia
Nobody will spend £10m+ on a 34-year-old and he's worth £100m to Sunderland, so I don't see it happening. Maybe if he threw a strop but, to be honest, Defoe seems a decent bloke. He was saying how people would lose their jobs if they went down, is really good to that Lowery kid too. Just wish he stopped scoring past us!
Scoreboard82
Don't think they'd sell unless he wants out. It would be suicidal to let him go. Good to think of them fearing that this might happen though.

Dokko
OT but its an absolute credit to the player someone is willing to pay even £6m and maybe more for a 34 year old.

BlackandWhite
West Ham will incredibly go right up in my estimation if they take away the scum's only hope of survival Don't worry though their scruffy fans will to sure to bring it right down again before too long. Foluwashola
There's no chance of them getting the money in to make it even close to being worthwhile. Even with £20m they won't be able to improve. Nothing to see here.
