Beardsley's compelling when talking about a lot of the behind the scenes stuff in a talk-in sort of way, even if his loyalties within the club are severely misplaced. His podcast interview with Graham Hunter is brilliant, for anyone who hasn't heard it.

Met Pardew in Heathrow airport a couple of weeks after the Carroll sale, seemed decent enough to be honest. (Not defending him being a s*** manager)

Seen him in the Black Bull in Benton about a month before he left to join Palace and tbf he seemed canny enough then. He was having a bit crack with a few of the regulars in there about the match the next day at home to QPR iirc and stayed for about an hour just talking to different people.

We were talking to Mick Lowes in The Nine Bar the other week as well and he got talking about the ex managers and he reckoned after Keegan and Sir Bobby, Pardew was the next easiest one to get along with.

He would be, given that Lowes never once took him to task, even after utterly indefensible consecutive displays. He was harsher on McClaren after a 1-0 defeat to Arsenal than Pardew after Liverpool dicked us 6-0 at home. Pardew knew exactly how to placate and manipulate the mongish elements of the local media. That's partially why he was hired.

Pardew is hardly some calculated super villain here. Infact, there is nothing calculated about him. He's cringeworthy, foolish and rash which is largely why he's a shit football manager. It doesnt surprise me that he's sound enough initially. It's after a while people start seeing through his bullshit for what an absolute fool he is. Thats parts of the reason why he always starts off well, then has these massive downturns in form.

Accurate description of a snake oil salesman.

“We can ask him a question, text him, ring him or whatever. The big thing for me is he treats everybody the same.

“With all due respect it doesn’t matter if you are a cleaner or kitchen porter, whoever, we’re all treated the same but in a positive way.

So incredible finally having a real human being around the place. Could you imagine Pardew even looking at a cleaner? "Don't look the King in the eye..."

Indeed, you just know fine well that the fat man is going to ruin it!

Not at all surprising that the following person got on with Pardew - a pervert with a prima donna complex, who perpetually licked anything coming out of the club's arse, and who I heard first hand call the fans 'so fucking petty' following the protests against Pardew.

He also claimed this, just a week after the 5th anniversary of SBR's death.

He [Pardew] took charge in December 2010 and was named Barclays Manager of the Season 18 months later, having guided the club to fifth and a place in the Europa League.

That was Newcastle's highest finish since the 1996/97 campaign, when they were runners-up to Manchester United.

The prick only dared criticise Pardew when the writing was on the wall that he was going. Anderson as well, who said fans 'should be ashamed of themselves' for the 'vicious' way that we treated Pardew at Stoke and whose comeback when it was mentioned that Pardew had pushed officials/sworn at and headbutted opponents was 'oh so that makes it alright then does it?'

They couldn't have been any more transparent in their blatantly-affected-by-getting-cosy-with-Pardew bias. The pair of them are worthless in terms of their professional opinions on anyone, they defended the worst manager in this club's modern history right until the end.

Bit in bold is a load of shite.

I like how they say this with authority

And the Spaniard will ask Gunners’ legend Thierry Henry to join him on the coaching staff.

Sounds like Rafa wrote this article tbh

I thought along the same lines.  If Ashley can play media games then why cant Rafa in order to get what he wants in the Summer here. Sounds like propaganda fuelled by Rafa's side for once.

Couldn't think of many managers less suited to Arsenal than wor Rafa.

Disagree totally - he is a perfect fit for them. They want success and trophies having been denied them for some years now. They also have a history of winning things by pragmatic football...remember '1-0 to the Arsenal'....?

They would back him far more heavily than Ashley ever would and he would be in charge of a great club.

I said ages ago that if Wenger left, they would be serious competitors for his services and they are a far bigger club than West Ham who are the other main contenders.

I think Rafa's days of working at the biggest clubs are done anyway, tbh. Such is the ego of the modern superstar footballer his style will be unpopular wherever he goes where he isn't the biggest person at the club. Liverpool was a partial exception to this.

Obviously it's our gain, hopefully.

Even at a top club, Rafa's regimented defensive formation is more suited to winning cup competitions to a league campaign. He would have won the title with Liverpool if he'd been prepared to go at the shit teams a bit more. Arsenal fans would never be patient enough if he didn't win anything within the first season. I think Rafa would much prefer to stay here than go to London, our fans have watched some pretty awful football in the last couple of months but they have complete faith in him.

Rafa got 82 and 86 points with Liverpool. Arsenal haven't done that since going unbeaten.
