Ketsbaia
I wasn't nervous about Rafa going to West Ham until reading the Pete Graves post. Graves seems a good bloke btw, he's just doing his job and he'll be bricking it too. We beat them 3-0 yesterday and they look rubbish - very much in trouble. So Bilic is almost certainly gone and Rafa is almost certainly top of their list. Can he be tempted? Well he won't have time to buy players down there and, although he's indebted to West Ham for being nice when Real came in for him, he's also indebted to our fans. Family isn't an issue.... he's close to them now, but travelling to London won't be an obstacle. He's clearly pissed off at the club though, so it's a battle between being loyal to our fans and also hating his boss. So yeah.... starting to get nervous at this. They'll definitely approach him. Dave
It's definitely up to him anyway, Ashley would accept the money in a heartbeat. Take our chances with another desperate out of work cunt.
1964
If Bilic is sacked it might tell us something is up. They will have sounded out a replacement and it is highly probable that Benitez is high on the list
SUPERTOON
He isn't going to just stay here because of the fans. I have no doubt he loves the fans and connection he has, but he isn't putting up wit Ashley if he feels he can do better elsewhere just because of us. I'm not saying West Ham will be the club to lure him away, but if it's not them, I'm pretty certain another club will be a long soon and he will be off, and tbh you couldn't really blame him. SUPERTOON
Just to add, the inevitable disappointment and lack of backing at the end of the window will also help make up his mind when you consider the backing Bilic has had.

Guest
Rafa Benitez has agreed to “shut up and get on with his job” after clear-the-air talks with Newcastle chiefs. After a series of transfer window moans, Toon boss Benitez was visited by managing director Lee Charnley and Justin Barnes — a lawyer working for Magpies owner Mike Ashley — after Saturday’s win over West Ham. PR man Keith Bishop was also present amid concern at the Euroepan Cup winner’s comments about his transfer budget. So far, Newcastle have splashed out around £40million in this summer’s transfer window on six players, but missed out on four early deals Benitez wanted done, leading to tension. On Friday afternoon, Benitez claimed Newcastle was no longer a “long-term” project. And all summer he has hinted at unhappiness at the speed of business being done. Owner Ashley is believed to have asked Benitez to stop his unsettling comments and to “get on with his job”. Disillusioned striker Dwight Gayle could be sold this week for up to £20m, to raise further funds for a late recruitment push. Talks were held at St James’s Park immediately after the win over West Ham, and an amicable way forward worked out between all parties.

Altamullan
As ever, hard to know if much truth in any of it. Three more business days until end of window. We'll know where we stand then. For about 48hours

Dave
I dont think Charnley was even at the game on saturday. He was, according to NUFC.com: Owner Mike Ashley was absent from the Director's Box, although Lee Charnley was present and had England Manager Gareth Southgate sat near him - watching precisely who is anyone's guess! Dave
As. Fucking. If. Lee: "Rafa, we need you to shut up and get on with it." Rafa: "Aye alreet." If this seems vaguely familiar, cast your mind back nine years, after then-manager Kevin Keegan's comment that United were a "million miles" away from the top four: Here's the Guardian's version of events, which were inaccurately upbeat given that KK remained in charge for just four more competitive games and the whole matter ended up in court - hardly amicable: May 2008: A lengthy meeting in London involving manager Kevin Keegan, Mike Ashley and Dennis Wise concluded with civil handshakes rather than final farewells. Keegan had been summoned to the Fleet Street offices of the international law firm Freshfields - where Chris Mort, Newcastle's chairman remains a partner on indefinite leave of absence - by Ashley, the club's owner, after making some provocative comments. While Newcastle's manager had made it clear he would not resign there were suggestions that he could possibly be sacked but, instead, Keegan, who is believed to have offered Ashley an apology, emerged still in charge and with a truce negotiated. Nonetheless it is understood that there were flashpoints and moments of real tension between Ashley, Wise and Keegan and that Mort's renowned diplomatic skills proved essential to procuring a satisfactory outcome. Ashley was reportedly angered by his manager's sarcastic assertion that their relationship was good because they never spoke.... Now sensitive topics including transfer targets, funding and the division of club duties are said to have been "mapped out" for Keegan...
