Maguire would be an upgrade on most of our current CBs. Would be happy with him.

Saw rumours of Morgan from Leicester today, that'd be f***ing horrific - such a clogger.

He is an archetype of a player that NUFC has been lacking for some time. Physicality at centreback has been a continual weakness since Faye left about a decade ago. Age and general lack of talent are an issue, though.

Why do so many want Joshua King? Take away 2017 and he have 15 goals in 150 games or something. Cisse mk2.

He's not an out and out striker, nowt like Cisse. Would suit Rafas number 10 position beautifully.

Based on the transfermarkt website alone, it looks like King has been playing both as a lone striker and as #10 in a 4-2-3-1. This means he could be bought ostensibly as #10, but also used as competition/injury backup for Gayle in the striker role. It sounds like he can play off the shoulder.

This would let us buy another, more defensive #10, a Sigurdsson type who can link play and contribute defensively but can't actually play up top. In this situation, you'd have King as an upgrade on Perez and the Sigurdsson type as an upgrade on Diame. In simple terms, that is.

Says Rafa wants 7 to 10 new players. Looking to loan some of the new players to get the most value from his budget.

said yesterday can see a few loans with obligations to buy the following summer when the TV money actually rolls in

Wouldn't be against loans for Loftus Cheek and Ake like.

Of course, there are disadvantages with loans, but Rafa might well be looking to the long term. Some of the better players may be reluctant to commit themselves long-term to a newly promoted side, and we can end up instead with a lot of signings on long-term contracts who won't be able to achieve more than just keeping us up. We then won't be able to afford to push on from that point, and will end up falling back. To an extent, that's what's happened before.

A few loan signings can help us develop whilst still giving us some flexibility in the longer term. That may be Rafa's thinking.

Jozo Simunovic in The S*n.

last time we brought CB from Scotland it was Boumsong  :-X

Efe Ambrose linked too. I thought he was crap?

He is, very. Think he was loaned out to hibs in Scottish championship last season.

He's absolutely appalling. Makes Bobo Baldé look like a cultured centre half.

I think if we sign a CB it needs to be one in the £15-20m bracket who is completely proven and clearly better than out top three. I like Maguire but not sure he's the man.

We know who you mean

Sakho from Liverpool? Perhaps not completely proven but looked excellent for Palace.

Loans with options to buy. Although with Terry leaving, Cahill 31 Chelsea shouldn't want to sell Ake.

Interesting (if true) of players being 'offered' to us, presumably by their agents.

Those players must surely be aware, and thus fairly keen to join us.

Another advantage to having Rafa, and a general good feeling about the club again.

Better to have players who want to join us for us to consider, than constantly chasing targets, being turned down, or failing to get anything 'over the line'.
