Newcastle United transfer rumours in the press

Some would absolutely hate him here. But those individuals are dumb.

I've criticised him in the past and don't think he's good enough for an Arsenal type team but he'd be an outstanding signing for us

Not that we'd get him mind.

The 'not that we'd get him' thing is still a thing eh. Rafa fucking Benitez is our manager, have you learned nothing?

I want some exciting signings, like now  I'm getting bored about the lack of Newcastle stuff in the air right now, not much to read/talk about right now and no Newcastle footie to keep me busy and satisfied. Bring on the new season, can't f***ing wait!! June is always a boring month when it comes to football, unless there's a World Cup or similar during the summer.

 I'm hoping this was sarcastic. If it is, ignore the below.

Giroud would/will have offers from teams that can give him a lot more than we can, including from his native France. It's ridiculous to compare the two situations as they are nothing alike. To even think that a mewly promoted team would attract a player like Giroud just lives up to the deluded name we get - he'll be playing in Europe next season.

Maybe next season, or the season after but this season? Think if you're expecting signings like this then you'll have a disappointing summer.

It´s quite a reality check when we are talking about other teams´ strikers: Giroud, Lukaku, Sanchez, Aguero, Ibra, Rashford, Costa, Kane, vardy, Hazard, Mane, Coutinho...

Mind, the ones out of the top ten are all pretty "normal".

Giroud who couldn't muster himself to play to his full ability with Arsenal, you really think if he came to Newcastle he'd bother to up his game for us?

How hasn't he played to his full ability at Arsenal?

If you're suggesting he has then he's clearly not this good striker people are painting him to be.

Huge stretches of games without goals, high amount of chances with low goal return, flattering performances off the bench suggesting that he should be playing all the time. He's scores 1 goal just over every 2 games, which might seem great, but the chance conversion rating is poor and this is in an Arsenal team that played through him at times. I just don't understand the sudden swell in optimism that if Giroud came to Newcastle he'd be some super striker for us.

In fairness Arsenal don't exactly play in a way which would get the best out of him, we don't either tbh  but i could see him being much better somewhere else.

Arsenal need someone mobile really, Giroud has never been the right fit for them.

But then you could argue that Arsenal have so much mobility around him that it shouldn't matter he isn't mobile. If they play and bounce the ball into his feet against high lines, using him to draw the defenders into him to play a ball into the channels between out of position CBs and FB, or the old give and go, then it shouldn't matter. If the opposition don't play the high line then he's got easy pickings in the area.

It does though, players like Sanchez and Ozil will always look better playing with a striker who makes great runs than a target man as it just limits their passing options.

It's the same reason why Barca never bought a big target man, it just slows down their play and doesn't really give them any major advantages to negate that.
