Newcastle United transfer rumours in the press

Out of all the underwhelming player's we've been linked to, Griffiths is the worst by a considerable distance.

He really is complete and utter shite.

signing that minions looking sack of shit might be enough to tip me over the edge tbh

If we are looking for numbers on a restricted budget it would be great if there was a talented winger/number 10 available on a free from PSG we could look at.

Former Newcastle United star Hatem Ben Arfa has been told he can leave PSG this summer

The 30-year-old found first team opportunities hard to come by at the Parc des Princes and he has been told to look for a fresh challenge

Former Newcastle United midfielder Hatem Ben Arfa has been told he can leave PSG this summer.

Ben Arfa only joined the French capital club last summer, after a stellar season for Nice, but has seen first team opportunities at the Parc des Princes hard to come by.

The French international made just five league starts and often cut a frustrated figure playing under les Parisiens manager Unai Emery.

According to L’Equipe, Ben Arfa’s representatives met with PSG sporting director Antero Henrique on Wednesday and he was told he can seek a new challenge.

However, Ben Arfa is keen to remain at PSG, the club he supported as a boy, and his Lawyer Jean-Jacques Bertrand has hinted he will drag his heels over any potential move away from the club.

Bertrand said: “PSG made us understand that Hatem is free to leave, but we made them understand he won’t just leave like that.”

The report also suggests that Ben Arfa could well be left out of their squad for the summer tour of the USA.

Should Ben Arfa resist a move away from the club this summer, L’Equipe claim he will wait until January to sign a pre-contract agreement, ahead of the expiry of his contract next summer.

Ben Arfa left St James’ Park in January 2015 and while he still polarises opinion among the United support, a lot of Newcastle fans long for him to return to the club before the end of his career.

HBA is "free to leave". That doesn't mean PSG don't want a transfer fee for him. It says he'd wait until January to sign a pre-contract agreement. Why would he do that if he can leave for free now? If he was on a free transfer but wanted to sit in PSG's reserves for a season to get his wages, is he really the sort of character anyone would want at their club? That would be another season not playing football to go with his half season after leaving NUFC/Hull.

Navas is probably the most limited player in the Premier League. Goes on the outside and hits a useless cross. Every. Fucking. Time.

That bit about going on the outside, I can see Rafa seeing some merit in that alone considering how few wide players actually do it. At least the ones that play for us. All this talk just makes you even more angry that we didn't push harder for Townsend in January assuming he actually wanted to come back.

This whole window it's been underwhelming..

Wait.

What like January or do you mean it's going to get more underwhelming

This season is going to be a massive struggle, it's quite clear that the funds haven't been made available for Rafa to get who he wants and it seems we are already scraping the barrel looking for cheap rubbish or free transfers.

Whilst I wasn't his biggest fan when he was at Man City, Navas would be a superb signing on a free for a newly promoted club like us (which I think people forget we are, at times).

Agree with this.

 He's frustrating as f*** to watch in the City side but would improve us.

Yep, would be cracking. City fan I know agrees he frustrating but would never say a bad word about him. Pretty sure he's git a decent amount of assists in the last few years? I'd be all.over him on a free.

I think he might have meant, it's July 9th and we're about what a fifth into the window. So saying the whole window might be a bit over dramatic like.

Must admit it's getting a bit...oh come on ffs.

If that was clear Rafa wouldn't be here.

Instead we're managing our budget and from the very start we were told that would include free transfers and loans.

Can't argue with that up this point.

Its all since this Barnes bloke came in, put the block in January and now we're being slow as f**k.

We had no problems last summer with spending.

Alan? Maybe we've only got a tenner to spend then.

Anyone starting to believe we have f*** all money to spend?

I think we have money but what we have needs to get us 6 or 7 players which means we need to manage our funds carefully.

I honestly think we have the funds to get the 6/7 players we need, but only if we can get a good deal for each of them on a player by player basis. We could just  as easily sign ne other c*** if we can't buy them for good value, which is worrying to say the least.

I'd really like to see Traore here based on the little I've seen of him

Really? Why?

What does he actually do?

He did fuck all other than run in a straight line every now and then for us, and seems to have done the exact same for Boro last year. He's big, stocky and quite fast, but he has zero football awareness.

I remember Village Idiot on here telling me *exactly* the same thing when we signed him, and he was absolutely spot on.

I find it utterly bewildering anyone would want him, let alone pay some of the figures mentioned for him.

He's not a winger. He's not even a footballer.

The same was said to us about Townsend...and the Villa report on Clark was just as bad.

However Obertan does spring to mind in this case.

I never saw him for you lot but I caught a few Boro games last year and he was dribbling past players with absolute ease, going on Ben Arfa-style runs past 3/4 at a time. Struck me as someone who could be molded into something and would be useful now in the right system.

As I said I only saw him once or twice for Boro but I thought that he did well dribbling past players and then had no options. Having said that I assumed he was going to be a cheap backup option, not 15m
