I've wanted us to sign Dwight Gayle for a few years now. Very good player IMO.

Ritchie would be a great addition too. Both could easily be part of the Premier League team if/when we go up

Was thinking I wouldn't mind him at us as well but does he always put that much effort in or just for Wales this euros!?

I was also thinking I wouldn't mind us signing him. That said, does he always put that much effort in? Or is it just for Wales, at the Euros?

He reminds me of something off wrong turn 2 ugly little f***er oright

He reminds me of something from Wrong Turn 2, the ugly little fucker. [soz, don't  'oright' still escapes me]

Ah, ok I get it now. Thanks. I'm not extracting the Michael, and normally don't care about grammar or punctuation, but if I've edited your post above to show how what you meant would have been clear to anyone reading it.

Don't think Bournemouth would sell him. And don't think he'd drop a league.

If that's true it would good test of just how much Rafa and Newcastle attract players, dropping down a league because you believe it would be a better move long term.

He'd do better to convince "some" of the ones worth keeping to stick around.

I will still be worried if we have played our first 5 games in August and any of the players we should hang onto are in brilliant form, because transfer deadline day will be a nightmare if we lost any and couldn't bring anyone in.

Rafa's priority should be re negotiate a new contract with Townsend and remove or bump up this buyout clause.

Obviously if Sissoko and any of the other mercs are in great form that's a plus, because I want many gone, but I think most of that crowd will be gone before the Fulham game.

Kind of want us to sign Jonny Williams of Wales

I've been very impressed by him as well.

Doesn't he look like a weirdo? Like some strange forest dwelling person who eats road kill to get by?

Cheikh M'Bengue: Newcastle United and Sunderland are both interested in me

Senegal left-back Cheikh M’Bengue says Newcastle United and Sunderland are one of a number of clubs interested in a Bosman deal for him

Cheikh M’Bengue has revealed he has been approached by Sunderland and Newcastle United about a Bosman free transfer this summer and the Senegal left-back is considering both options.

The 27-year-old is in demand after running down his contract at Ligue 1 outfit Stade Rennais.

He has talked up the prospect of moving to England, while keeping other options open too.

“It is true that I have a little attraction to the English league and the German championship,” he said.

“But there is also the reality of the market, supply and demand. I’m not (only) focused on these leagues.

“If I have something that fits me where the offer is interesting, why not? I am open to many things.

“Many clubs have approached me. Saint Etienne asked me and there is also Sunderland, clubs in Turkey, Newcastle – I will leave it a little time but not too long.”

Sunderland’s interest shows Sam Allardyce is looking to add greater depth to his squad next season, as well as trying to strengthen key positions.

A winger, an attacking central midfielder, a right-back and a centre-forward are higher priorities, but Allardyce is looking to all outfield departments for improvement as he seeks to break the club’s cycle of relegation battles.

The Black Cats have no plans to sell Patrick van Aanholt, arguably their most improved player last season. The Dutchman was handed a contract extension at the end of the campaign.

But van Aanholt is the only senior specialist left-back, with right-footer Billy Jones providing the cover.

M’Bengue has played at centre-back in the past, but not for a number of years. At Stade Rennais he established himself as a left-back, with occasional appearances at wing-back.

Senegal’s involvement in next year’s African Cup of Nations ought not to be a problem. Although M’Bengue has 23 caps, he is not in coach Aliou Cisse‘s plans.

Ivory Coast’s Lamine Kone and Tunisia’s Wahbi Khazri could both be involved in the January/February matches if their sides qualify in September’s final round of fixtures.

A host of clubs in England and elsewhere have been keeping tabs on M’Bengue since it became apparent last season would be his last at Roazhon Park.

Stoke City, West Bromwich Albion and Hamburg have also been linked.

Despite playing in a lower division, M’Bengue’s route into Newcastle’s first team might not be any easier than at Sunderland. Although Kevin Mbabu has been linked with a loan move away, the Magpies still have Paul Dummett and Massadio Haidara in that position.
