Newcastle United transfer rumours in the press

“Iheanacho's future still in question

Kelechi Iheancacho wants to leave Leicester, with Newcastle still waiting patiently in the wings.

The Nigerian, who scored twice in the 5-1 FA Cup win over Peterborough, has started just two Premier League games since his £25m summer move from Manchester City.

A deal depends on Toon’s pursuit of Feyenoord’s Nicolai Jorgensen.”

Mirror Blog.

Him and Luan  :fwap: (... sadly, very similar to one off the wrist imaging ‘enjoying’ some intimacy with a famous filly).

Can't believe how Kelechi has been handled by Leicester. It is tragic stuff. If we get him I would be overjoyed. He's such an intelligent classy striker man.

I guess pairing him with Vardy just didn't quite click. Would be amazing if we managed to get him in. Would love having a super eagle in the team.

 I met him briefly and he seems a lovely man as well: stopped to have a kick around with my son & other lads.

Jack Harrison is a canny little player.

Quite the step up from MLS like but I'd like us to take a punt on him if he's available for that price.

From a video scouting, Luan didn't look totally beyond our reach. But clearly the time and space given to strikers by Brazilian defenders is totally different to the Premiership, so he may take a while to adjust - longer than we can afford to give anyone.

I'd prefer Iheancacho, who amongst other things, is used to the English game.

It's going to be Ings (if anyone) isn't it.

If it is, it will be Rafa's decision. I am now thinking we will definitely sign a striker in the next few days, whether that's Ings, Jorgensen or some other bloke will be entirely the manager's choice.

More names but I think we will end up with that South Korean striker, 'Nee Won'.

Nah. Ashley keeping the club means he is now going to be responsible for keeping us up. He has to back Rafa basically and if it cost the club £20m, so be it. If we go down after he's put his faith in Rafa's judgement, relegation will be purely down to the manager.

This is an “ashley isn’t stupid enough to let us be relegated” post.

No, it's an "Ashley will be willing to spend £20m (of the club's money) in order to avoid relegation/shift the blame to Rafa if we go down".

Then why have we been haggling over the price of this lad for over a week?

Feyenoord aren’t going to shift on their price, so why are we so reluctant to spend that £20m that is apparently readily available?

It's called negotiating. Most clubs do it.

Aye, but most clubs end up buying the players - we don’t. For the sake of €2.5-€5m we could have had this guy in a few days ago integrating with the team ahead of an important game next Wednesday, but no, we’ve gambled on saving a few quid and he’ll not play a part in that game now (even if he does come at all).

We’re yet to make an offer that is above our transfer record, but apparently we’re gonna break it and apparently we’re keen to strengthen.

Caulkin seems less than confident that we’ll do this deal, what will be the excuse for that? The money is available, apparently.

Negotiation typically goes like:

stage 1 - daft offer you know isn't going to be accepted

stage 2 - more sensible offer

stage 3 - agree to meet in the middle

Ashley's negotiation process appears to be:

stage 1 - daft offer you know isn't going to be accepted

stage 2 - slightly higher daft offer that isn't going to be accepted

stage 3 - walk away

Ironically, when someone else tries a similar negotiation technique with him he calls them a timewaster.
