Haven't seen any good close-ups yet... I take it there was lots of little stick-bound flags accompanying the message, each with a player's name and number from the final?

Correct.  Not a great pic from my seat but if you zoom in you can see Moncur and Davies (or not as image quality is shite after uploading).

Probably not the place for it, but would love to see hear / see some A Ha music / lyrics for Eddie. The man never reveals much about his personal life but we all know he fucking loves that band.

It's the first line of the longer 'who's that team we call united song'. The longer version is much better IMO but gets sung less and less these days.

Brilliant display by Wor Flags. We say it all the time but what a credit they are to our fans base.

Yeha the version I was always familiar with was "Kosygin took a holiday he went to Budapest..." which was longer and the original I'm led to believe but this new, bastardised version is the one everyone now uses.

What's the Koysgin bit, never heard that ?

Strangely pre match we were retelling the legend of Joe's half time speech in Budapest to a couple of youngsters (mid twenties sons of a couple of the lads).

So, from memory, Kosygin was the Russian prime minister, Hungary being former iron curtain. Kosygin used to holiday in Budapest and in 1969 he held some sort of huge Russian cabinet meeting in Budapest.

My recollection mirrors that of @Heron

Politics of the time, maybe?

Kosygin took a holiday we went to Budapest, Kosygin took a holiday we went to Budapest and he said to Joe Harvey…

The older version is a lot longer than the new abridged version.

Mind hes never been to the match since the early 90s and hates everything to do with modern football

Ah right, that makes more sense.

Ah right, I'm in my 40s and have never heard that sung past 'support you ever more', didn't know there was any more

Memory is totally bastardised and hazy with this new version but it certainly started;

Kosygin took a holiday he went to Budapest

Kosygin took a holiday he went to Budapest

Kosygin took a holiday he went to Budapest

And he said to Joe Harvey...

Who's that team you call United

Who's that team they all adore

Ih they play in Black and White

And they all know how to fight

Then this is where I now get confused

I think it's "We'll support you ever more"

Before then going into...

"Bring on your Hearts, your Hibs, your Celtic, bring on the Spaniards by the score, Barcelona, Real Madrid never took the Gallowgate, We'll support you ever more"

Will check with my mate who's 65.

This all makes relative sense though

Really honoured to be on that video tbh.  Sharing the same "media space" as Bobby Moncur man. What a delight. Happy birthday to me.

Many moons ago (45-ish years in fact) me and a mate took the bus to Newcastle, didn't have a ticket or owt just hanging round the players entrance and he asked what we were up to so we told him and he took us in through the main entrance, down the tunnel and put us in the middle paddock in the Milburn... true story, won't have a word said against him.
