SUPERTOON
I kind of want this to happen now..... Why? So that Rafa leaves and we can continue to live our lives instead of wasting it on a nothing club. This.

afar
Craigy now saying the Fulham bid was £12m, we went back and asked for a swap with Cairney and Fulham told us to f*** off. That's derisory for a player with his goal ratio to games played last season, yet they wanted 20 million for Cairney !
Dave
http://www.getwestlondon.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/matt-smith-reveals-truth-behind-13563484 Matt Smith has revealed the truth behind a reported Deadline Day swap deal behind Fulham's Tom Cairney and Newcastle's Dwight Gayle. Fulham had attempted to sign the Newcastle striker on the final day of the Transfer Window, but the move fell through with Gayle wanting to stay on Tyneside before reports stated a swap deal between Cairney and Gayle was being touted. Newcastle had been interested in Cairney earlier on in the window before he signed a new contract at Craven Cottage, and speaking to BBC Fighting Talk, Smith revealed he was sat next to Cairney watching the TV, with both confused when the reported swap was announced. He said: "It was my best mate Tom Cairney at Fulham, he's not leaving, which means I've still got my next door neighbour and my coffee partner after training which is good. "I was actually sat with him on the sofa watching Deadline Day and then all of a sudden, out of nowhere, it goes we're hearing Tom Cairney is in for a swap deal with Dwight Gayle and I looked at him and said 'T, I've been sat with you for two hours and you've not mentioned a thing' and he's said 'I don't have a clue about this one!'" Happinesstan
Why would anybody expect Cairney to know anything about it, since it was turned down? Slight over-reaction from the host.
Sean
Gayle 6/5 to stay. Reckon that's easy money. As I said it's just a time wasting excersise Thanks for the heads up! Easiest money ever made just had to wait till this morning for the payout.

Aye A complete nothing story that is. 'a bid came in and was rejected, so the player didnt hear about it'
loki679
I just hope this mess didn't affect him too much mentally. Seems like it'd be easy for his head to drop a bit after we apparently hoiked him around for a last minute deal.
afar
It might in the end help motivate him to get over his mental issues about his hamstrings. He can't continue being a fanny about it and focus on his form if he wants to get his place back in the team.
mighty__mag
Apparently shoved into the reserves to face wolves. What has happened to him, he came back pre season either overweight or way to much muscle on top. Looked a ridiculous shape all bulk and tiny legs. HaydnNUFC
Don't think "shoved" is the right word tbh. He hasn't played many minutes and he's getting some under his belt tonight. Would like to see him involved on Sunday in some capacity tbh, likes a goal vs Liverpool.

HawK
Apparently shoved into the reserves to face wolves. What has happened to him, he came back pre season either overweight or way to much muscle on top. Looked a ridiculous shape all bulk and tiny legs. He doesn't run as fast as he used to or put 100% into games because he's not confident in his body. Rafa would rather a lesser player who puts in 100%. afar
Having watched most of the reserves game last night, there were some good signs, he was running onto chances trying to get in behind, taking pop shots at goal, and even scored a goal that was disallowed for a questionable offside. There was little quality in the reserve side to find him, unlike what he had with Shelvey last seaons, and the game did highlight how little he offers to the team when he's not scoring. Decky
It's sad to say this about a player who was such a favourite last year, but he's finished here. He looks like another fantastic Championship player that can't cut it in the Premier League.
xLiaaamx
The Gayle that netted those 23 goals would have a chance. He's not the same man now.
