SUPERTOON
Hopefully that’s him done here in a playing role.
r0cafella
Aye hope he stays in some form but we can’t afford to give him a squad place next season I have thought

Big Geordie
Has he done his coaching badges at all - does anyone know? I agree - should be kept around, if not in a playing role (if he agrees to it) He's a good lad.
Anderson
Still only 33, be surprised if he's ready to move into a coaching role just yet.
madras
Ideal for the older player in under 21s but wonder if he feels he maybe still has another year or so in the first team somewhere.
gbandit
I think the way Eddie treats his players like Ritchie will have a massive impact on the squad as a whole. Feeling valued is just about the best way of building loyalty and connection. The lads must absolutely love playing for this club right now. They’re building a connection that will be there for a lifetime
Yorkie
Trippier confirmed on the podcast the other day that Ritchie is in the leadership group, so I wouldn't be surprised at this point if we haven't seen the last of him. Harder to find a move if you're 34 and crocked as well like. Shame for him, he deserves good things. If he'd somehow contrived to find the net for us one last time this season, it would have been a great moment.
joeyt
Feels like there's always been whispers in the years he's been here that he'd like a move back down south Wonder if someone like Plymouth would go for him

It’s tucked away about as far into the SW as you can get without straying into Cornwall. I say this as someone who lives in Devon and it takes fucking forever to get anywhere
Mike
Down with a knee injury and straight into the backroom is literally Eddie and Tindall's story so I wouldn't be surprised to see Ritchie opting to hang it up and pursue his next chapter. Couldn't pick a better place to start.

ScottishMagpie
Tindall and Ritchie on the sidelines at the same time! Bring on any fuckers who want to try it!!
80
No disrespect to Richie but we've been pretty lucky with our injuries this season. Most of the bad ones have either been on people we could carry (e.g. Krafth instead of Trippier) or well timed (Isak getting his injury just as Wilson returned from his) etc. Now we get two (short) season enders and they're to our backup CB and backup backup LW. Stifler
Fuck sake, he’s one of our highest earners, we should be shifting him on.
duo
Hopefully on reduced wages. I am all for having good characters in the dressing room but not at the expense of players on the pitch. Edited June 1, 2023 by duo

sushimonster85
He's obviously a big presence behind the scenes. Whenever I managed to get to games this past season I was always struck by how often he was 'warming up' all game, basically using it as a chance to bark instructions. Feel like he and Lascelles were both relied on by Howe and Tindall to get messages/coaching across to areas of the pitch they were too far away from. AyeDubbleYoo
I mean, they're not stupid, they obviously want him around for a good reason.

The Prophet
I wonder if these mean we might be shifting Lascelles? I think they'll both be moved on eventually, but I wonder if we're wary of getting rid of too many dressing room leaders at once. He was on just below what Shelvey was on. Obviously Bruno, Trippier, and Isak will have surpassed him since the takeover, but he’ll still be one of our higher earner.
