Huddersfield Town 1-3 Newcastle United - 04/03/17 - post match craic from p24

Recommended Posts

Thought these were a decent team, until I realised Mooy is from Man City, Kachunga from Ingolstadt, Brown from Chelsea and the 1st choice GK from Liverpool. 4 of their best are loans.

And Kasey Palmer who's currently injured but played all season is also on loan from Chelsea.

Really not sustainable to have 5 key first team players in on loan.

Someone said earlier it might be too early for them to get promoted, I think it actually might be now or never and just as much chance of them dropping back down to lower end of Championship / relegation battles if they don't go up.

Thought similar

It's now or never IMO. Similar with Brighton. If both don't go up, they will lose the spine of their teams.

Knockaert signing a new deal isn't long term planning, it's locking him into a contract to command a high fee if they don't make promotion. I'm sure Brighton are in quiet alot of debt due to not selling Dunk, Stephens and Knockaert in the summer. But instead choose to sign Murray, Duffy etc for one last shot at promotion with a capable team.

Brighton need to go up. Operating loss of nearly £30M in the 2015/16 accounts.

Don't really understand the hatred here. I've got a lot of admiration for clubs that find upcoming managers with different ideas. What Wagner has done at Huddersfield is very impressive. From what I've read he has changed the whole culture at the club and on the pitch they have a clear idea on how to play the game their way. An identity. Something we've only recently discovered but have lacked for years.

I hope they get promoted. Clubs like this should be rewarded for their bravery to do something else than hire one of the typical safe options. Maybe that would slowly spell the end for our pardews and allardyces as more and more clubs would take notice.

Agreed.

I admire what they're doing on and off the pitch and their chairman is an ambitious local lad made good, would certainly rather have somebody of his ilk than a parasite like Ashley.

I don't think Wagner's post match comments and those of some of their fans have done them any favours mind.

This method of football could be very, very effective next season like.

This is my thinking as well.

We might not steamroll lesser teams in this division with the football we are playing, but it feels like Rafa is preparing the team for tougher tasks next season where this style could prove to be mega valuable to us.

Love that goal from Gayle... seen loads like that over the years, and the scorer always seems to let it get to the line and then blast it into the net. The way he nods it so he has the last touch and then just lets it roll in of its own steam is just so much better.... then that celebration... if he wasn't our player, that would really annoy... but he is, and its great!! Hehe

so did nobody hear that s*** banter from their announcer about our penalty at half-time then? beginning to think i've imagined it. should have been reported to the FA.

From .com

However, that didn't excuse the PA Announcer (Paul Ramsden?) making veiled threats to East at half-time and getting players to say that Ritchie had dived for the penalty. Outrageous.

Would any other HTFC staff be allowed to make such public utterances?

And for all the reasons listed above I don't see this being now or never for them. When you have a good manager and a system you don't fall apart when you lose few players. And it's easier for new players to come into the side that has that structure. I think their biggest fear is someone stealing Wagner.

What was said?

something like the ref roger east would have to be careful in huddersfield, but am sure he also asked fans and players to say if they thought ritchie had dived.

His foot was blatantly clipped which knocked him off his stride and his lef foot hit the back of his right heel. It was a stone wall penalty although they could possibly have had a free-kick for it hitting Shelvey's arm just before. The claims for Murphy kicking it out of their keeper's hands for the 2nd were just weird.

We could be the worst team to ever get promoted.

Are NUFC going to be the worst team to ever get promoted?

Are we the worst team to ever get promoted?

We must be the worst team to get promoted.
