Doesn't that penalty decision show the problems with video reviews though? Lallana wasn't impeded enough to go down, and Holgate only had hold of him for a moment, so normally refs let that go. On the other hand, he did have hold of him, with the intention of slowing him down.

 

Video reviews are okay with questions of fact, but so many decisions in football are subject to opinion and interpretation. I can't see it working.

 

It’s the inconsistency thing that gets me. If that amount of contact, arm across the chest, no holding, no grabbing, no shirt being pulled, is enough to justify giving a penalty then there should be either a free kick or a penalty awarded every single time a corner or free kick is swung into the box. Worse fouls and more contact is ignored at every ground, every weekend in either box. They give it when they decide they want to.
