Ikon
“I have not yet seen the replay but from the bench it looks as though it was a penalty,” Benitez conceded. “Obviously he conceded the penalty that but then afterwards he was almost the hero with the header — that is football. “He has not played since the opening game against Tottenham and he has been working very hard. During the international break he has been training with the team and I am happy because he is a good player who gives us more options at centre-back.”
CPL
Yedlin make a mistake vs Stoke, which could have cost us 2 points. Clark made a mistake vs Liverpool, which could have cost us 1 point. Lejeune made a mistake vs Soto, which did cost us 2 points. Those are the fine margins, because it cost us points, people will remember it more. Thought he was solid otherwise. Great to see that we have good depth in defence at the minute. You could do this sort of thing for a lot of clubs in the league though. Was more aimed at the knee-jerk comments on the player based on one moment in the game. I didn’t see him against Spurs and I thought he was very comfortable in possession and solid at the back. Pilko
He'll be fine imo. Shit tackle but we've seen pretty much every centre back we've had in forever make the odd bad error.

Minhosa
I was at the game today so in the second half, he was right in front of us. A couple of observations, aside from the clear error of the penalty, were that he looks like he's carrying weight in comparison to the first game and also he looks quite hesitant in boths his aerial challenges and also his tackles. I'm saying that from the position of liking him btw. He's often late to jump when going into an aerial challenge - an Andy Carroll would terrorise him based on today. He'd also need to sharpen up, again aside from the pen, in his challenges. Get in quicker basically. He's got a lot of quality though.
Newintoon
Very strange comparing this thread to Elliot's! Lejune made an absolute terrible unnecessary tackle that's cost us the 3 points but Elliot's getting more lambasted, odd
nemtizz
In all fairness Elliot has a history of being shite.

Geordie Ahmed
Very strange comparing this thread to Elliot's! Lejune made an absolute terrible unnecessary tackle that's cost us the 3 points but Elliot's getting more lambasted, odd How on earth is it odd? This is his second game, went off injured in the first. People have rightly labelled his challenge as stupid BUT he played well aside from that and until he does it again we can treat it as an isolated mistake Elliot though we know is an average keeper, we signed him for nowt from the lower leagues so shouldn't be a surprise. He has improved in his time here BUT he is not good enough, he is too slow when shots are low down.

ExiledGeordie
Looks like a really quality player lacking a bit of sharpness who make a fuck up. Let's not ruin the lad for one mistake ffs
KaKa
Thought he looked fantastic outside of the error on the penalty, which was very understandable considering how little he's played. Really really like the look of him.
louistoon
With our lads doing so much defending we'll see more silly mistakes. Won't forget Clark made a shocking mistake in the last game. But can't see Lejeune keeping his place for the next game. And Lascelles had a big chunk of culpability in the last two goals conceded before today too. No where near in the same league though, at least with the Coutinho goal. He kicked a ball up a little too much in the air ffs. He may be dropped for the next game because he made a mistake and Clark has been performing well. Looked good apart from that though, would like to see him play more but I'm not sure if it is fair on Clark given his recent performances. Nice for a fucking change though to be worrying about which centre back its fair to drop, rather than which centre back deserves to be dropped the least. Ikon
Silly mistakes happen easier when tired (which he probably was). Still a bad mistake, but apart from that blip he was very good
