We've also bought Yerry Mina, a CB from Palmeiras. Flip knows him per chance?

Tim Vickery seems to rate him, although I've just realised you probably won't know who he is. [emoji38]

Is Mina now or at the end of the season? I'd read a while ago that Messi didn't want him to he signed until the summer because of Mascherano.

Mascherano's leaving this window for China.

Getting much money for him?

We both needed players with Dembelé and Coutinho's profiles badly. The amounts we paid for both are truly embarassing, though.

What's going on with Real keeping their powder so dry atm? Can't see them being pleased with all these massive fees being thrown around without them.

No idea, they spent €80m or so on a smattering of players, but with the sales of Morata, Danilo and James made back more than that.

They'll sign a keeper this window (Kepa) for €20m or so. But they need a striker really badly, and could do with a LB and another CB.

Mahrez to Liverpool. £49m. Medical tomorrow.

Not what they need imo.

Need a proper striker to get the most out of Klopp's system, they have Salah who plays Mahrez's role but just much better & with a better attitude.

Mahrez is meant to be a bit of a knob if internal reports are to be believed.

Tbf they're buying a player as a replacement for Coutinho, who while not as good will fill the void left by him, and will still have the better half of £90m still to spend.

Aye, true that tbf.

I would say mind, Coutinho and Mahrez are quite different players, Mahrez being more similar to Salah but just not as good. Be interested to see how that plays out for them if indeed the deal is going through.

Agree with that, love watching Mahrez but you can't really play him and salah in the same team.

My Liverpool mate reckons they'll try and get Brandt from leverkusen

Brandt is meant to be canny good like, can't say I watch much Bundesliga mind. Seems a very Klopp signing to make, although again he's a winger isn't he?

I can't help but think they're missing a proper striker of genuine quality. Lewandowski was so important to Klopp's success those years ago and particularly important in Dortmund's ability to go from front to back quickly. That Real Madrid game was a perfect example of it. They need that versatile, all rounder striker. Firmino is a very good player, but they are playing basically a 'false 9' with him at present; and I think with that system, their ceiling as a team is far more limited than it would be otherwise.

So Barca have spent around £50m to get Coutinho and Dembele whilst losing Neymar.

As good as Neymar is, I think they might be better off having done this. They need the balance that Coutinho can offer to the midfield and the pace that Dembele has.

They still need some pace to replace Suárez up front, hope they don’t spend another £100m on Griezemann though; doesn’t feel like he’d fit. They need more pace.

Never said anything about Iniesta tbh, i don't think he's of the level they are going to expect and Barca could do a lot better with 140 fucking million.

He's not the only attacking midfielder who can drop his shoulder and dribble a bit on the planet, also as been mentioned there shouldn't be a rush considering he's cup tied.

Like who? Money isn't really an object for Barcelona either, they've replaced Neymar with the two players they really wanted.

Personally i think Coutinho is a quality signing for Barca.  I hope people don't try to compare him to Iniesta as they're completely different types of player.  The understanding that Iniesta had with the likes of Messi and Xavi was incredible and a joy to watch, trying to measure Coutinho against that is unfair i think.  What Coutinho definitely will give them is more goals from midfield, hasn't he scored more goals from outside the box than anyone else in the Premier League or Europe (can't remember which) for the last couple of years?  That skill will be massive for Barca in games where the opposition decide to sit deep.  Really looking forward to seeing him play for them.
