Chicken Dancer
As with other elite strikers, he will just adapt and change his game. If Shearer done it I’m sure Haaland can.
Chicken Dancer
On the subject of Shearer, assuming Haaland stays for 75% of that contract, he will almost certainly break the record.

I'd be foolish to disagree, most likely he will, it's just Haaland feels a bit of an outlier of a player so I am not sure all comparisons will work, however he certainly can finish so will remain a great poacher likely. I'd more be worried about injuries.

Building a really good squad steadily year by year and not just throwing silly money at like city. City are the reason we can’t spend as much as we’d like. No one wants another city in the league so people can blame Man Utd Liverpool and Arsenal etc and rightly so but the way City have went about things since their takeover is it any wonder the rest of league don’t want a repeat of that? I don’t. It’s boring and dare I say soulless I agree with not wanting to spend billions in a couple of summers, I do t want to be the best that way. But what Man City are doing right now is exactly the problem with the rules. They’re having a shit season so spend £150m to fix it, whereas we ‘can’t afford’ to replace Almiron. Not being allowed to strengthen in the position of strength that we are in right now is just ridiculous
andyc35i
Oh and I said the same of Aston Villa last year. They had a genuine opportunity to try and win the league this time last January and you really don’t get these opportunities often. They weren’t allowed to freshen up the team to kick on again in the same way we find ourselves right now and just ran out of steam

Smal
do wonder if Man City have had word that their punishment is going to be a long transfer ban. Signing all these young players and handing out obscene contracts to existing ones seems mad. Their only previous significant January signings under Pep have been Laporte and Gabriel Jesus I think. WilliamPS
With Haaland he may lose his pace (but that is injury dependent) but he’d still be a big powerful striker with a good shot on him. He’s also massively dedicated, so more likely to work on his game as his mobility changes. It’s not likes he’s like Owen or Walcott where pace is his game. geordie_b
Stinks of a new PSR loophole, perhaps details of the original transfer package were going to be released and this is trying to get a step ahead of the book damage
London Mag
Rumoured to be £500k a week. Makes Isaks £160k look like pocket money and demonstrates what we are up against when it comes to trying to tie him down to a new deal

Doubt we can match it when the time comes.

Chicken Dancer
Getting Wilson, Targett, Almiron, Trippier off the books will free up some cash we can hopefully earmark for Isak, however the problem is replacing those players too. This is where Mitchell hopefully earns his dollar.

Theregulars
If City had any real financial constrains in practice that would end up being a real albatross, but the rules don't apply to them.
