real madrid don't sign that type of players for transfer fees. If they are genuinely interested Perez will be tapping him up for years so he joins on a free when his contract is up.

Unsettle him all summer with constant front pages on Marca and other outlets, then sign him on a lesser fee the following year.

They don’t recently, but this summer they will need to spend big on a CB and CM at a minimum.

Rudgier injured his knee, Alaba done as a footballer, Militao getting too many injuries and Ascencio is just a squad player long term.

Be interesting to see if he plays their last 2 home games now. Could be quite uncomfortable for all concerned...

How dare he leave for the world's biggest and most successful club. Doesn't he know the footballing world revolves around Liverpool?

I thought him drifting in to midfield first half was that new tactic they all use...turns out he just wanted to be as far away from the away end as possible.

It's always a bitter pill for me to swallow seeing them offer mad money for the likes of Duran and Henderson, then you hear rumours of players like Casemiro going for big fees too, but we're selling ASM for a measly 20m.

We've a viable loophole to help with PSR and I get why maybe the owners don't want to do it but when you see cunts like Chelsea selling their women's team and carparks to themselves to get around PSR then I think we should use every trick we can too.

I quite like that we're not taking the when they go low we go lower approach. Feel confident we'll be challenging on all fronts eventually anyway, just not as fast as some had hoped when PIF bought us.

The premier league has never had a really great RB though IMO, and we still never see Trent in anyone’s all time XI. People talk about him as if he’s the English Cafu. I’m pretty sure he wouldn’t make my all time top 5 premier league RB’s.

He’s been one of the best passers of the ball I’ve seen in the Prem. Incredible technique and vision.

Defensively he’s been undone too often. Really not sure why, you’d think he’s been coached to a very high level and would understand what went wrong.
Anyway, wish him all the best. Always happy to see English players going abroad and hopefully doing well.

Who are you putting ahead of him?

I think the contenders are Walker, Neville, Zabaleta and possibly someone like Ivanovic. I think TAA is in the conversation with his attacking output

It’s not very complicated with Trent, he’s a brilliant attacking RB and a well below average defender. He delivers the ball better than anyone else from FB. He would look appalling more often defensively but because he plays in teams that dominate the ball and can’t commit forward a lot he manages to get by as a defender

As a right back, to be exceptional and to be regarded as the best the league has seen, I think you need to be a quality defender first followed by the ability to effect the game in attacking positions. Alexander-Arnold is literally nowhere near the conversation as the best right back, defensively-speaking, the league has seen. There's been hundreds better than him.

He's a great passer when afforded the time and space his position in Liverpool's set up tactically affords him. He's excelled in that area and his quality has been allowed to shine, which is testament to him, his coaches and his teammates equally.

He's not the best right back the league has seen though, nor anywhere near the best in the world.

To add to the names you mentioned, Bacary Sagna, one who rarely gets mentioned but was a far better right back than Alexander-Arnold.

I would have Walker, Neville, Zabaleta, Lauren, Ivanovic, Sagna, and Azpilicueta ahead, along with the mentioned names. If I was picking a team for a big game, I’m not relying on TAA over any of them.

He’s an incredibly unique player. Can’t think of another player with the same type of skill set really.

I probably agree that his defensive frailties prevent him being anywhere near the ‘best PL RB’ conversation, but equally I think he should be included in the ‘best PL passer’ convo, up with the likes of KDB, Fabregas etc for me.

I'd probably disagree there too, it's one thing being able to find and execute passes from wide areas with time and space on the ball, another thing entirely to find those passes in congested, more central areas of the pitch. When Alexander-Arnold went into midfield he looked like Jeff Hendrick.
