I can't remember them having a shot on target and they had 20 odd percent position. And we still lost. They purposely sat in a low block and looked to counter, because they knew you'd never manage to open them up that way. Particularly because they had three physical central midfielders playing, as Maddison and Kulusevski were out. All you did was pass the ball around in front of them, which ultimately meant nothing, and so that possession was meaningless. Ange did the smart thing really, because your lot are awful going forward. He didn't make it easier for you by pressing high and leaving gaps in behind that you could possibly exploit. Geordie_once_removed Posted yesterday at 08:34 Share Posted yesterday at 08:34 Yeah, that was pretty much the perfect result for me. I always felt a win and Champions League was more important to Man U, that plus my longstanding dislike for the club meant wanting a Spurs win was the obvious choice. But to win (or lose) in such disgraceful fashion really was the cherry on top. Spurs' only shot "on target" was dogshit control, a lucky deflection and maybe the faintest of trickles with the studs. They had no control of the game at all. Man U had all the ball but seeing them trying to score was like watching someone try to play snooker with cooked spaghetti. Normally no, and ofc I don't know for sure, but they are allegedly buying a €40m player for €16m. The saudi club isn't agreeing to that out of the kindness of their hearts, so its most likely a reduced transfer fee to subsidise his wages.

Someone talked about this in one of the podcasts yesterday (The Fighting Cock?). We lost an absolute shit fest at Palace and Ange said something like the game was poor, bitty and bad-tempered and we didn’t cope with it. They were suggesting Amorim could say the same thing after Wednesday. We didn’t go full shithouse, but we played to the strengths of the team we had. LFEE
Is Wirtz all that? Only seen him a couple of times ( @joeyt disclaimer!) and thought he was ineffective for Levekusen and Germany. Clearly must be a talent. Thought Atalanta for example took him out the game easily.
