Liverpool getting £10m to allow Trent to leave a month early. Mental.

Richard Hughes doing a good job at Liverpool. Quite a few on here didn’t want him as our sporting director last summer when he was linked. Would have been the idea candidate in hindsight.

Newcastle is a sporting director graveyard. Might be the reason.

That's an absurd deal.

Do Madrid really think he's going to make that much of a difference for this CWC nonsense or that it's even important?

I suppose what they've probably done is offer him 10 million less across the whole package (6 year wages/signing on fee) and he's happy to do that to secure the move now.

The prize money for the CWC is insane isn't it? I'm sure I read the winner will receive £100m+.

They don't have a RB at all

I’m guessing a sponsor is stumping up at least part of the amount. No way Madrid pay £10m off their own bat. The organisers want all the players they can get there and will have facilitated accordingly. They’ve even blagged a special stub transfer window to enable this sort of move.

The players own motivation will have played into it. He is going to Madrid for the profile as much as anything.

This nonsense is only going to be every four years - could be only chance you get to play in it.

Selling Fernandes for a large amount solves one problem but creates an even bigger one tbh. How do they replace him? He's carried that club and suddenly swapping him for a bag of cash doesn't seem like such a good deal after all. The way that club wastes money on absolute shite I'd not back them to fill even half the hole him leaving would create. Their signings have been wank for years now and now they have to spend £100m correctly to replace him? I'll not hold my breath

Yep what I was saying too. Already spent 80% of that 80m on Cunha and he’s not going to replace the output Fernandes has given them.

This is obviously fake news as Liverpool are plucky underdogs who are fighting against the corrupt money infested game.

They’ll be foaming that their precious club weren’t invited to the Club World Cup jamboree but the “new money filth” like Chelsea and Man City got a ticket. ‘Above us only sky’ and all that.

That Wirtz fee seems high to me. He looks great. Had an unbelievable season the one before this one. There’s absolutely no scope in that sort of fee for him to be anything other than a Salah type club impact or it to be viewed as a waste of money.

That’s a lot of eggs in one basket for Liverpool too given they don’t have a striker.
